engine talk

Hello,

I here about people turning 16valves into williams....

what is the best way to get a high performance car going, before you look at performance parts.

buy a 16valver or willams?

williams engine with a 1.8 head is something i have heard, also heard about using megane parts, could someone in the know let me know!!

Andy

The 2.0 bottom end ie what the WIlliams uses is the best idea rarther than using the 1.8 Valver bottome end.
The optimum engine is a rebult Megan bottome dn (seems they are always the quick ones I recon its down to the fact there not as worn personally). Also the Megan 2.0 head is better than the Williams one even more so if your going to have it ported however the egan head needs some more work to make it fit the Clio.
The 1.8 head isn't as good as the 2.0 head stanard but its lightly better if your going to put the 2.0 avlves in it and have it ported i think as there more spare material to cut away at.

a 16v like that, then buy a 2.0l willi bottem end

bolt the bottem end on and your done??

will changing th ecu make any difference?

and porting the 1.8 head is better?

all mounts etc are the same?
Yep mounts are the same.
Its just a bolt on but it takes time you've got to take the engine out swop the bottom end and put it back so there a lot of fluids to replace new cambelt (might as well when the engine out as its a pain otherwsie)
Chnaging the ECU for a 2.0 mapped one will mean the engine can use the extra performace the 2.0 gives you since the maps are designed for 2.0 operation ie lower rpm redline and more fule low down.

i would suggest fitting a megane/willaims 2.0 bottom end with either the 1.8 head that came out of the car, or preferrably perhaps, a williams head....in either case with higher spec cams and some headwork, then a remap of the ecu to suit you rspecification. it all depends on your budget. pm me with a few more details, and i can help you decide what would be the best solution......i can offer headwork, cams (and any other components for that matter)...or even just free advice!

or email info@ap-developments.com for a more prompt response.

because i can, talking to Dan from club clio.

Drop a 2l into my 1.4 5dr RN and make a nutty sleeper, and if i read the insurance stuff right all this will count as 1 of my 3 modifications?? :D

10% added on?

All i need now in the engine, mounts, radiator, ECU and loom!!
