Engine Transplants

Some engines can go quite easily in to other cars, apperently. So i was just wondering does anyone know whether or not it would be easy or not to put an rsi engine into a 1.2 clio oasis. What sort of costs would i be looking at if i supplied the rsi engine myself.

Yea, GTT is the way to go.

BenR, what if hes spent loads on his current car and just wants a quicker engine? Makes sense to have a transplant than to start all over again - I think so anyway.

Daz.

true......but why all the effort to change to an rsi engine....its not exactly the performance choice, and any further mods to it will be basically non existent.

The GTT motor is another thing.....120 instead of 95....far better, with potential for well in excess of 200.....thats worth it.

But its not the best chassis base in the world is it.

somethign ive always thought about engine transplants...doesnt the different characteristics of other engines (weight, centre of gravity, angle at which the sit) affect the performance of the car after its been put in? do you just live with it, or is the difference unnoticeable, or does it affect it?

it does affect it, but its generally not a big deal

The GTT engine doesnt alter any of the major factors that much.

Only good example is fitting the Mi16 engine to the 205. because its sucha tall engine, it has to lean back, and is a tad heavier, so this does affect the handling of the 205 to some extent.

well i want a BB tuning turbo conversion but i dont want to spend 7k getting one. So im thinking buy a fairly highly modded, well looked after 5 (200-250hp). Take the engine, box, clutch out, buy the other ancilliaries for conversion new, and bang similar result, few £1000 cheaper. Then stick a stock GTT engine in the 5 and sell it on. Then hopefully have some cash over for other goodies - bodykit, brakes, suspension, interior, INSURANCE  etc.
