engine upgrades on a v6

what else can u do to push these towards the 300 mark, without nos i mean

would a chip do a lot (ecu) what would u gain?

Headwork, Phase 2 manifold with modifications, cams, management, increase in CR.

3.2 or 3.5ltr conversions.

Throttle bodies

Supercharging, screw type, not centrifugal would be my choice.

lots and lots and lots, BUT!!!....it will always cost a fortune due to the nature of the car.

on this engine, not much...bolt ons only go so far as exhaust and filters.

You can modify the inlet manifold to work better, which does give surprising gains, but even the remap is costly.

What sort of budget are you working to?

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

Were into the ECU so a remap for decent fuel and some more advance is on the cards without spending a fortune - still go filter and plenum/throttlebody though.

In fact filter/TB/plenum/remap should be less than a grand

Just about ready to dyno my new engine, spec; Omega hc race pistons, polished and peened rods and crank, ported and gas flowed heads, gas flowed plenum, Newman wide lobe cams, grey injectors, race coils, full balance, Motec 800 ECU with launch control, etc, janspeed manifolds and connectors with lightweight silencer. Will post dyno test print-out when we get it.

Depends what youre planning to use the car for anyway. Expect prices to drop over the next few years as more tuners get involved. But these engines were built tight and perfomance increases after about 6K running-in. Also they like good fuel.

Sounds a stunning spec is this going in a road car? What about transmissions? Any idea where your going to rev limit it?

Road, shopping, pub, club sprints & hillclimbs.

Will have to try the tranny as standard but will see if we can change ratios and fit an lsd when we see the dyno curve / plot. Mike T is still running a std tranny on his blown car I believe.

Rev limit is why I want to dyno the engine and not just drop it in the car. Need to study vibration readings but really looking to hit max torque at 5K and the see what the curve does after that.

we can tune the fueling with the SMT now, we established this..

but you do need a aftermarket exhaust with decat as well.

Do you need the car in order to install the SMT? I live in Hong Kong and will not be able to bring it to you. But I would like to chip my V6

What bhp/torque gains were made with the SMT and the decat?
