ESP issues

  Clio 182
Hi All,

I hit something very slippy today and the car ended up sliding left and when i went to correct the slide the car continued to skid for a while before getting my grip back. I always leave my esp on and considering i gave the car quite allot of opposit lock I was surprised/worried that my esp did not seem to kick in, has anyone experienced their esp kick in when getting into a skid/slide?

I would have expected the esp to respond? Anyone got any comments/thought, are Renault able to test if the esp is working as it should?
I did not see the orange esp light flicker of anything?

Any comments (sensible) welcomed? I am sorry if i make no sense at all

Rich :)

Yep, I was caning it off a roundabout once and hit a greasy spot. The back started to come round and I saw the ESP light flicker and the car straightened itself out. Magic. Maybe you should go to an empty car park for some "testing"

Its a matter of what the ESP has sensors to detect and is programmed to deal with.

You refer to the car "sliding". By that I presume you mean the car was going in a straight line, but wasn't pointing in the direction it was going. The ESP's not looking for that. Its looking for it rotating. And its looking for differences in wheel speeds. In a slide neither of those are occuring.
