I have a Mk2 172 52 and i have the option to turn the ESP on or off. At the moment i have it on, i'll turn it off when the sun comes out

Still think it's a good thing to have...I'll be leaving it turned on. Still no excuse to bad driving though, no amount of 4wd, esp, ayc etc, etc will keep you on the road if your driving to quick for a corner or the roads are icy/greasy.

I've got to say that I think that the Clio's ESP system is one of the laziest and most useless on the market. Even with it on, you can still get out of shape pretty easy, and the traction control is useless at stopping wheelspin. I mean it tries its hardest, but it's a bit rubbish compared to other marques' systems out there.
The only advantage is that you can disable it fully. Audi TTs don't have that luxury - the ESP system never fully disables, even when switched off! TBH though, with the quality of driving of most TT owners, that's probably a good thing!

Isn't that why 172s/182s and the Trophy are fun to drive whilst most Audis are pretty inert?
