You can remove the valve easy enough. I removed the bumper and headlight to make it easier. You can do it through the wheel arch though. make sure you block up the hole where one of the tubes goes into the plenum. I cut a piece if the tube that goes into it and stuck the end of a biro in it to block. Hope that makes sense :)

Yay i've been linked  :D

Anyways, you don't need to remove it no. But, i could not see how the bejebus a CAF would fit without it being removed. Do a search for the Trophy guide to remove the A/V, is simples, 15mins tops!

There is very little room down there that a 102mm CAF won't need securing to anything, i've left mine dangling and it seems to of stayed put :D

As Johnny said, make sure you block the return hose otherwise, irrc, you'll have an extremely high idle and possible warning lights!

ok seems like a simle enough job. is the only place for the CAF in the wheel arch? i would like to have mine behind the grill somewere. but i have not had a look under the bonnet to see what space i have to play with.

if you have a FF 182 (ie. with xenons) you're going to struggle to get the 102mm CAF down behind the headlight. I altered my horn position to give a bit more space down there, but you can't get it past the balast. Pain in the arse really. Best thing to do is run it towards that direction and maybe shield the area some how. Not sure what i'm going to do when I fit mine yet. will have to see what I can come up with

I just got mine, I'm going to bang it straight onto the body with a silicone connector and run it open in the bay, see how it goes, cause running a caf is a total pain in the assss!

It wont work particularily well though. You're better off running a pipe to near the headlight and making a casing or something to block off the warm air.

Yeah well I did think that but I saw Daves 182 and he's running it the same way and says its spot on. So I'm just going to try it and if not ill have to find a route for a caf.

just thinking would it be possiable to put the caf to the fog light? means sacraficing a foggy but i dont use them anyway?

  Golf GTD Mk7
no because the headlight is in the way. You would have to run a 70mm caf up from the fog to the light and a 102mm caf to meet with it to go to the box.

You could always direct the CAF straight down from that position toward the subframe maybe?

Yeah that could be a plan :) I just hope it makes enough difference to justify moving my battery into the boot for aha!

I'm also going to run it with the oem filter at first, I'm sure it doesn't even make a difference with the itg...

  Golf GTD Mk7
yeah I bought an ITG, but it makes no difference at all according to most. Saying that, you're not going to get much from a filter change apart from noise.
