So for this years holiday, 4 of us lads decided to do a little roadtrip. We all booked 2 weeks off work, and planned a route that incorporated a bit of everything we all wanted. Me and Richard, being car nuts picked a few things you guys might like. So thought I'd post it up!
This is there, or thereabouts the route we took. Although, as with all trips, not all went to plan here and there. Please forgive me as I dont have all the pictures (namely, the phone pictures) on my Flickr. So this is just a brief "Highlights" reel.
So to begin, cue a very early sunday morning in a very bleak part of england.

4 up, with a roofbox and a bootfull in an Audi A4 we made good progress. So good in fact, Richard said he could make it in one to Marseille. 20 Hours after setting off, thats where we ended up for the first night. Word of advise, Marseille is a s**tehole. I was scared for our lives. However, we did survive and decided to get out of there... pronto!

That night we had nowhere definite to stay, so decided to go and check out Cannes and see what campsites were about. You do find some interesting things in French piss stops though...

By evening, we had a problem. Everywhere was booked and we had to face the reality we were going to spend the night in a service station. However, we were all still quite awake by the early hours so.... why not visit Monaco?

A few laps of the track later, we decided to drive further along the French coastline and find a decent service stop. This is when we ended up in Italy for a bit, before refueling and turning around. We ended up sleeping somewhere near Cannes in a service stop. Me and Alex stayed in the car, while Richard and Neil took their sleeping bags outside for a kip under the stars. Benders.

In the haze of a hot morning, we decided that we had to make sure that didn't happen again. Purely for comfort reasons, it was at that point we spotted two english guys asleep in a Caterham. Guess it wasnt that bad then!
So armed with a rising data bill, we managed to (Via the powers of Google) find a campsite in a small french town called "Agay". Fnar fnar, we pitched our tent in Agay etc.

The previous nights bad sleep and dodgey french Mcdonalds had left Richard out of action. I decided to listen to Ricky Gervais podcasts and chill out, while the other two went for a walk to see our surroundings. It was a mere few hours before they turned up on scooters. FFS.

After two days, it was time to leave france behind (kind of) and Move on to Italy. Not before stopping off in Monaco again though!

So, onto Italy. After a brief night in Genova, we moved onto Monza/Milan. On route we picked up a few things. Including annoying presents for eachother. Rules were, it had to be under 5 Euros and you had to carry them with you for the rest of the trip. I got a pink pearl necklace, Neil got a childs rubber ring, Alex got a rubber chicken and Richard ended up with a hideous welcome mat.
Unfortunately it was an Italian public holiday, so we couldn't get onto the track. And after a very messy night, I only took a few hungover photos of Milan itself.

We then set off for Lake Como. On route, we saw some lovely scenery. Only once interrupted by Jeremy Clarkson creeping onto our side of the road, "Whos that tw*t in the F-Type.... oh".
Anyway...

It was amazing to get such a change of scenery. The Bormio lunch break was our last Italian meal, before heading further into the alps, and stelvio pass.

So into Austria, and some more amazing views.

We booked a guesthouse that was worryingly cheap. Two bedrooms, seperate bathrooms, living area and kitchen. All for 70 euros? Given our past hotel/campsite experiences we were worried. But it turned out to be (for me) the nicest stop of the trip. We were located next door to Austrian hero, Benny Reich. With great views down into the next town. Perfect stop.
Anyway, it was time for Germany. And the first stop will go down in history for all 4 of us, the day we nearly died on a mountain (Probably).
This is Neuschwanstein Castle, and we ended up walking up the mountain directly to the left of it. It only took 1L of beer to convince us it was a good Idea. No equipment, myself in skinny jeans and Nikes.

Anyway, first off, the walk to the castle itself was very spectacular.

The others overtook me walking down, due to my unfit asthmatic lungs. That is the last I saw of them for about 2 hours. I ended up standing by the car wondering if they had died or been eaten by Manbearpig. Turns out, they took a wrong turn, had to cross a stream and jump off things to find a road. Idiots.
The next stop was Munich. A friend of mine who works for BMW put us up for the night, and it was awesome. I didnt use my camera, I just got hammered and ate meat. Oh, I did visit the BMW Museum too. Germany is fantastic, and I recommend it to any of you. Autobahns are crazy. Everyone drives fantastic, and fast. Sitting at 110mph wondering if our roofbox would blow off, and people were passing us like we were stood still. Derestricted motorways wont work in our country for sure, but they work there.
Moving on, Stuttgart. For obvious reasons.

Wide, sweeping turns and perfectly paved roads. Motorbikes were loving it, as were we. Even if we were 4 up in a overloaded A4 Diesel.
So that was it, a trip home through france and 2 weeks were over. I'd highly recommend something similar to anyone else, we are already planning a second trip. Although, Richard wants to take his Corvette this time. So may cost quite a bit more...
