Every last ounce!

  1.2 MK2 PH2
ok so ive currently got a 1.2 16v clio, basiclly because of insurance! But im looking to squeeze every last ounce of power it has out of it! (i know its not much!)

So i thought id ask the experts!
Whats a must?
and what helps?

obviously strip whatever isnt needed and the obviouse mods exhaust, cat bypass/cat back, induction (as long as its not slowing me down) but is there anything else im missing... or are they not worth the thought/effort?

Cheers in advance!

Proper suspeion work entaisl more than just sprins get coilover or cahnge the damers as well.
Get some decient tyres.
Ds2500 pads are the best value realy £60 from Demon Tweek with stock (new) disks.
Service it a lot chnage the gearbox etc oils.
There loads of bits but nothing economical realy.

quality stuff, ill look into these things you speak of... "breaks" ... new to me! If i wanted economical id of bought a bus pass! i know basiclly b4 it gets faster it just needs a bigger lump... but like i say insurance gets to a point were its bending me over greasing me up and aiming for penatration!

it you can only get insured on a 1.2, you have no chance with a 172 conversion!

yeah obviously, i dont live in a very nice area of Sunderland (i know its not the nicest of places but the part i live in especially lovley....) so insurance is a mint even thought i do keep it in a garage! not so long ago all the cars parked in the street had all their wing mirros kicked off on the road side!

just remember mate if you do any mods such as suspension work you need to declare it to insurance, which will cost you, if you crash theyll void ur policy. you can probs get away with upgraded pads without telling the insurance by just playing dumb ans saying you thought uprated brakes were a good thing.

Yeah declare it all even the stripping out.

If your going for handling over looks get a 40mm apex suspension kit and some black diamond discs with ferodo ds2500 pads. But more importantly get some Good year Eagle F1 GSD3 tyres in 105/50/15 cos they fcukin rock!!

suspension and brakes, mine keeps up with my mates standard starlet gtt on twisty roads, he eats me on the straight tho since hes got twice the power!

apex suspension kit (dont just change the springs do the dampers too!)
ive got Standard 259mm vented disks with EBC Green stuff pads and this combo works quite well in my opinion
get yourself a cat back exhaust with eather a sports car or a decat then get yourself a pannel filter in the standard airbox, remove the standard cold air feed and get a wider one but route it to the standard location as the standard airfeed is restrictive.

if you really feel like a challenge do what i done and crack open the airbox and chop all the internals out it so its just one big box, this with my pannel filter and cold air feed made a noticeable performance difference as the standard airbox is set up to keep the engine quiet and is very restrictive and its now just as loud as some cars ive heard with cat back exhausts when im on the standard exhaust, it sounds good LOL
