Everyone's favorite subject - rattles!!!

Both my doors have rattles. It's notthe end of the world and only really annoys me when the sterio is off.

Today I noticed that the rattles are only present when the windows are fully shut. I opened both windows an inch and the rattles disappeared.

Any ideas?

You say window(s), so I guess you're referring to both or can you isolate the noise to driver or passenger side? Have either of these been replaced recently? Have any of the panels been removed and replaced?

You should try a search as this has been covered to infinity and back again in the faults/problems thread.

Have a look, its not very hard to take off the door trim. A load of screws down the bottom, take the little blanking plate off the door/grab handle bit and undo the torque underneath. And also the torque holding the door handle on. Then you will need to pry the Door card off the actual door as renault will have used a load of glue to stick it on. I suspect it might be one of the cable holding clips that they use. They rattle like anything when they dont have anything clipped into them.

But trying to sort rattles in a renault is a bit of a thankless task. Its not too much of a problem for me as i cant hear them over the sunroof rattle.

If I take the door cards out and put them back I will have more rattles than I started with, hence although annoying, it is something that I can live with. Just hadn't been able to isolated the rattles before.

Are your instructions for a ph2 or a ph3 clio?

It is the same on both sides.

Searched the forum but no-one else seems to have rattles in the doors of a 197.

Apologies also, didn't see the 197 reference. Blimey, can't believe it's rattling already.

Try the plastic caps on the hinge side of the doors. They rattle like mad. Glue them in, 100% cured my door rattle. Common fault too.

i had this but only when the window is open, annoying, but it started after i had a local audio place fit speakers so it was probably just something loose, i pushed the door card about a little bit and it went away as if it clipped back in.
