Evil EVIL Alloy Wheels!

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S

I have just spent 3 hours cleaning the wheels on the right hand side of the car.. 3 HOURS!

My clio has done 40,000 and it is obvious that these wheels have never been off for a proper clean (ive owned the car for a week). Whats also annoying is that the crome wheel nuts, due to lack of care, have completely lost there crome finish which is going to result in new nuts!

Can anyone recomend a Alloy Wheel cleaning to make my life a little easier? I currently have the Halfords own, but it just isnt strong enough.

I have a presure washer which i used at safe distance on the front which helped but theres still some real stuck on stuff to get rid of, any idea how much steam cleaners are to hire?

BTW, there standard Si alloys 6 spoke if I remember correctly

I found the Halfords stuff to be one of the strongest wheel cleaners you can get - much better than Auto Glym and wonder wheels stuff - and a lot cheaper!

If the wheels have started to go yellow or have black dust marks that wont move try using Auto Glym super resin polish as (in my experience) that usually removes heavy stains from wheels.

If that doesnt work then get some Halfords brake cleaner and use that.

After you have got them clean get some wheel wax and give them a good coat of that and they will be a lot easier to clean afterwards.

I tried a few brands now.. and the best one for me has been the turtle wax alloy wheel cleaner stuff... comes in a spray bottle and removes the burnt in brake dust with ease.

Deffinatly recommended over autoglym, halfords etc.

use Meguairs mate, its a lot better than Halfords, Turtle Wax, Auto Glym and Zymol wheel cleaners, ive used them all

plus its not acid based..........

you could use some Wheel Wax once there clean to help keep em clean, again ive tried quite a few and the best is the one in the black tub jus called Wheel Wax, its £19.99 but you can sometimes get it on Ebay cheaper or get it from Demon Tweeks

Id use Wonder wheels once, but it is abrasive so make sure you dont leave it on too long, then use one of the non abrasive ones after that/wheel wax.
