Has Renault got shares in Evo i was looking at the last 12 copys last night

and almost every copy has a least 1 page of the 182 !

some dodgy backhanders going on i reckon !

If the cars are good, then theyll get featured. The 182 is the benchmark for all the other hothatches so its more likely to feature more than its "lesser" (EVOs opinion) rivals.

If theres any backhanders going on, its with Porsche...

A couple of years ago it was dominated by subaru and mitsi evos every issue.

The clio is getting good press at the moment in all mags as far as i can see.Evo love the 182 because it delivers everything for the right price.

A year ago the mag was full of v6s and 350 zs.Each time a car gets it right evo like to test it against everything,unlike top gear mag and CAR who give you some dribble about taking it to the shops and then fill the back of the mags with new car prices that were the same as last week.Waste of my money and paper imho

For me evo get it right and ian c what cars do they get free.Most companies put out a certain ammount of cars for testing and there shared between the mags.

Do you honestly believe that every month one of the evo team goes home with a tuscan or evo 8 340,lambo gallardo or whatever every month

Evos great because they go further than normal mags and criticise cars that have too much power or miss the point entirely. Things like mad AMG ML Mercs or Beemer X5s with 3,000bhp - its like, errr, why?

One thing I thought was great (which they have now canned) was the buyers guide for true classics. Things like BiTurbo Masers, Escort Cossies and Lancia Integrales, etc - all cars that wed like to own, but they spent a good half-a-dozen pages or so going into the pitfalls and expenses of keeping a good one.

I know what ppl are saying about the amount of press the 182 gets, but if theres nothing to match it in its class, what else can they do?!

I think they are pretty impartial - this month they have a sponsored Fiesta ST advert section in the mag, but still say they are disappointed by the car in the review a few pages later where it is up against its rivals.

Utter rubbish. If Evo were so pro-Renault, why did the Megane 225 come last in its group test ? Dont be cynical, they love the 182 because its a great car.

Mags like these thrive on being impartial and saying what they think.

If they just sprouted PR bollo**s wed soon loose interest and stop buying them, they wouldnt make any money off their cover price (a big part of revenue) and thed soon go pop.

These guys are in the business of driving high performance cars on a daily basis, many are racers/ex-racers think they may know slightly more about the virtues of cars and handling then us normal drivers - if you are a budding F1 driver please exclude yourself from this comment!

They like the 182 for the same reason they like the Exige (Lotus have no money to bribe them with!), Porsche etc - because they are good cars.

At the end of the day its their own individual opinions on a car. I remember an article a while back about the S2000, saying it wasnt all that...now they have one on as a longtermer?!?! They werent big fans of the Focus RS but Ive heard very different.

they will nit-pick a lot more than wed even know.

I Like EVO a lot, especially the way they write and word it all.
