Ex Demo...

  Focus ST
Just found out that me car is an Ex demo from Ilford.

From a general view I can guess its been thrashed to an inch of its life a few times. But I have it booked in for its first service this thursday with BBPT. Should I get them to check everything or is there something that they should really check.

Any help welcome!!

PS Anybody have a drive??:S

  RB 200 Cup!
thats a bit s**t mate - i know my local renault dealer ragged the nuts off their demo's but then again some ragged cars have been known to last forever with no probs - an all over check would be safe tho

I really wouldn't worry about it mate - but how come you only just found that out? Did you not check the history before you bought it?

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with it - it may have had a few good spanks but no reason why that should have harmed it.

cos its company registered/word of mouf...

Go for it mate, most cars have been ragged on more than one occasion, it wouldnt bother me if it runs smoothe at the time.

How can you tell if it's an ex demo car?? (just wondering.. )

Funny enough, at my place of work, we have a lot of agency staff.
This morning I past 1 guy in the car park, he came over to me and asked if I'd got it from Ilford Renault. Then basically got talkin, tellin me how some mechanics have driven it etc (nothing worse than someone who thinks they know the workings of a car, and KNOW how to drive fast :dead: ).
They had it as a demo car.

Also some of the paint work looks to have been sprayed - few lines on the edge of paint work (taped off), and a little spot of the wing looks and feels like they missed a spot when spraying it!!

Then the head gasket needed some tweakin not so long ago?? :banghead:

So just a little worried...

the demos at our place genrally are a good buy when they come on used car stock,
3 months or 9000 miles which ever is 1st
there are a couple of cars that are ragged.but they are usually enployee cars run as demos. we have a 107 which is now fucked lol

when people take cars 4 a test drive they arnt exactly going to rag it with the salesman sat next to them.

dents and scratches are probably due to when cars are being moved around the pitch

id rather have a demo than a used car

  182 + Cup
My last car was an ex-demo Leon Cupra. It had 5000 miles on the clock when I bought it. I then had 30,000 miles and over three years of relatively trouble free motoring out of it.

Unless you buy from brand new you're never going to know how a car has been driven so there's no point worrying about it.

You'd think that I would have checked wouldn't you. But I'm sure I'm not the only sucker to think buying from a dealer is best and the safest.

i wouldnt be too concerned if im honest.

its got a warranty, and people have cars on here that last 80k + thrashed everyday.

And as has been mentioned, its hard to rag the nuts off it with a salesman next to you.

my car was an ex demo to but it only had 80miles on the clock when i bort it! got it cheap tho, paid £10,800 for it wen there were new ones going for £13000, and they had done nearly 40-50miles anyway!
i took a 206 gti 180 out for test drive wen i was lookin at the cup, i ragged it with the salesman next to me! although he did tell me to give it some welly wen i was driving like a oap at the beginning of the test drive!!

in this day and age, engines are so strong, that a 'thrashed' engine will still last forever!

and as said, if anything does go wrong, then its warranty time.

bit naughty of them not to say tho (if they knew that is)
