Excel Gurus? Macro help please :)

Wonderin if anyone could help with something im wanting to do.

Basically I have 2 Excel workbooks (which could easily be 2 worksheets in the same file)

one has around 15 rows of data with around 10 columns

the other has around 5000 rows of data with around 10 columns also (exactly the same column names as in the first one)

The second workbook also contains those 15 rows somewhere in the 5000 total rows.

What I want to do is to be able to run a macro of some kind which scans the 5000 rows of data in the second workbook, finds the 15 rows im looking for (by the 'id' column for example), and then looks at a specific column name (e.g cost) for each row and automaticaly updates it in the first workbook.

Any ideas?

Cheers

wouldn't be a macro...you need a pivot table for that...although i'm not 100% sure on how to set them up...

F1 for the help menu and look at pivot tables...will give you the answer
