Excessive Crunching :0(

Guys I need your expertise info…

Every time I put the Willy in reverse, it crunches horribly. It started off doing it now and then, but it happens all the time now.

Is this an early sign that my clutch is on the way out?

I’m just a bit worried, cos I don’t want an f’d gearbox, as I’ve never had crunching problems like this before.

Ive tried differant techniques like puttin it in first before reversing and leaving the clutch depressed for a few seconds before reverseing, but nothing seems to work.

Help me please peeps!!!

my 16v did it bad, now i had a new clutch and gearbox it still does it sometimes.

how much did it cost ya, to get a new clutch fitted?

Try puting it in 3rd first to slow the box down... It does work?

it didnt cost me owt apart from the clutch as i had the engine and box rebuilt at the time

I think they just do it sometimes mate. I had a new clutch and it does it still. Just make sure you push the pedal down as far as it will go. make sure the mats not under it either hehe.

Best thing to do is if you are just say reversing off the drive or whatever is to put it in reverse before you start the engine. thats what i usually do.

or just wait a second for the box to stop spinning.

Caused by you trying to select reverse to quick, stretched cable or dragging/warped plate.

yeah i get that sometimes i just release the clutch and do it again slowly and its fine

I put it in reverse slowly, but it starts to crunch again,

so i have to leave it for a few minutes before itll go in without screamin its head off. Are u lot still sayin this is normal?
