exhaust bore size?

just for the record,i didnt say it was considerably faster or more rapid as we never had a race side by side just the fact it was a hell of alot quieter and alot smoother power delivery maybe because of the remap etc
we will have to race properly some time:D i think youl be very surprised as i wasnt doing to bad against dazs throttle bodied clio the other night;)

:D BIG SMILES!!!! :D

Ok mate, apologies, didnt mean to mislead or mis-quote. Main thing for me was the difference in pulling power from low revs in mine and the extra revs at top end. Yours was limiting at 6600rpm iirc, whereas mine was 7650rpm. Both cars were well and truly warmed up;)

Looking forward to checking the Titanium out mate. Get that rubber sorted now.:rasp:

:D :D lol no need to apologize matey, didnt mean anything by it
i think you hit the nail on the head bout low down grunt and higher rev limiter
i can say the low doen grunt on mine is soooo much better now due to the inlets
are you still thinking about doing yours?youyrs will have a RS stamper inlet anyway iirc with it being a 03 plate?

Dont think its an RS one no.
According to BenR when he changed the plugs he said it was a normal one which should benefit from matching.

Counting my money as I type;)

How would you know unless youve had a 2.5'' fitted and mapped up to compare?? Very easy to say theres no performance issues but for all you know your car might respond better to the bigger bore size

Most after market systems use a 2.5.

For example Yozza plug their 2.5'' syetem as a 'race system' with gains and their 2.25'' 'road system' as a direct replacement. Go figure ...

Hang on a second before I "Go figure..." Theres no need to come in with your sharp replies like an ar5e.:nono:

The OP's question was about 2" being suitable. IT IS the standard cat back exhaust size, and a direct replica in stainless in 2" pipework with free-flowing silencers IS suitable.

I am sure the 2.25" and 2.5" would give better gains than the 2" pipework [along with an increase in noise]

I had a 2" Powerflow system, ITG Panel & RS Tuning re-map, and driven back to back with Turners car, 2.5" GDI exhaust, de-cat and ITG Maxogen, Adam and I both agreed that my car was considerably faster, and more rapid through the rev range.

Would be interesting to see what difference Adams matched manifold makes.

Change the tampon and warm up the hotw4ter bottle geeezz. Go figure simply means 'work that out' as per the examples i quoted to you

2.5'' bore is regarded as the optimum bore size to use on 172's / 182's in terms of performance.

2'' bore might have 'no performance issues' in your opinion but then that dosent mean your car wouldnt be greatly improved with the 2.5'' bore size.

regarded by whom? as from what ive seen there is a split between people who say 2.25" and 2.5". Spoke to a performance exhaust place who are highly regarded and one of the best exhaust/manifold specialists in the north of england (AAS Exhausts) and they said 2.25" is deff. the best for an OEM clio. They said i could have 2.5" but unless my car was over 250bhp i would not gain anything and lose low down power in most cases.

Not a nice way to start your post.:dapprove:

My post simply concurred that 2" is suitable - end of story. A reply directly to the OP's thread.

I never disagreed that, quite the opposite. I'm not here to point and jibe or disagree for fun and dont want to annoy you over a simple question/answer.

My point [suitability] is correct, and your point [possible gains] is also correct.:)

at the end of the day we are talking a fraction of a bhp difference between the 2, the sort of difference having a crap would make before you got in your car, or having a bottle of coke in as extra weight...

2" is fine
2.25" is freeer
2.5" is a little free'er again but louder

make your own mind up and go for what ever suits you

Regarded by majority of Clio tuners and regarded, going by the bore sizes used, by off the shelf exhaust manafactures.

In fairness, someone who fits exhausts for a living on any random vehicle isnt going to know and have tested the flow characteristics of a Clio 172 in X Y Z state of tune are they?...
