Exhaust guarantee, not even been on a year.

Following on from this thread: http://cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=139954

I bought my car with a custom Cobra exhaust which the previous owner had fitted on 20.06.05. The receipt states that the exhaust has a lifetime guarantee but also states the previous owners name and contact details. Ben_P has said that a product of this nature needs to be fit to perform its specified for at least 12 months.

I doubt the lifetime guarantee is transferable but any help advice with the relevant UK law with the 12 gurantee would be much appreciated.

I am going to contact the previous owner now anyway as he may be able to come with me for the new exhaust.

  VW ....
If u can provide proof of when it was fitted by receipt it will have the reg on it ..... then with it being a lifetime guarantee it shouldnt matter if the car has changed owner IMO .... a lifetime guarantee is exactly that .

I have the receipt and the old owners name and contact number. I am going to blag it and say I am the original owner but I have also spoken to Andy who had the car before me and he says he will come with me to take it in if need be.
I have the receipt which is literally a page of a4 with a printed logo and the rest is in hand writing clearly stating a lifetime gurantee. No T's and C's or anything.
The website doesn't have any T's and C's in reference to the guarantee either.http://www.custompipes.co.uk/

go to town on them, their website clearly state's "All of our exhaust sytems come with a lifetime guarantee"

Normally if something is offered with a lifetime guarantee its only available to the original owner as they could in theory be replacing exhausts for free 50 years from now. But if there are no terms and conditions anywhere you may have a chance
