Exhaust Noise query

Ive always wondered, why do big bore exhausts always pop and bang when the foot is off the accelerator?

Is it basically just the air inside the muffler swirling around and going back on itself?

Its un-burnt fuel in the exhaust as far as I know. Not all big bore exhausts do it. Usually a decat encourages this sort of thing

my magnex 6x4 does it alot, spits and burbels all the time, also when you hit the limitter you get a bit pop-pop

Is that a good or bad thing it does that? I would assume it's a bad thing?

probably a bad thing.. but sounds kind of nice

all exhausts do it, its just standard systems aere there to silence this noise.

Also larger bore aftermarket system have less back pressure with causes over scavenging so more mixture enters the exhaust on overlap.

My mongoose pops quite nicely at 4k and above when you tap the accelerator! Spits out flames too!
