ive wrapped my manifold it cost about £100 in wrap and locking strips and the manifold needs to be off the car to do a decent job, the clio's engine bay is very small so i doubt it keeps the bay temperatures down too much but it helps gas flow
I was just about to mention that you'd have to take the manifold off.....bit of a pain to do.
You can buy 'jackets' from places like Demon Tweeks and Merlin that have the same function...just don't require wrapping/sealing and removal of the manifold.
theory is to increase thermal efficiency. any gas speed increase due to density change would be minimal due to relative high pressures of exiting gases. only really worth it on turbocharged engines.
