F.A.O. All CUP Owners

  Clio v6

Would you please list in order of importance, those factors which resulted in your purchase of a Cup as apposed to a 172 ?

ie; Cost , Performance , Colour , Saftey , 100% Track use only etc...

Many thanks to "CUP owners"

1. performance - no car can touch it for the same cost

2. cost - not only for car but parts are cheap compared to others

3. track use - what a bonus, gets a lot of respect

4. colour - limited edition looks great

5. what safety?? - get track lessons on how to drive youll need them with no ABS

No I am certainly not on a wind up. I am hoping for direct responses from only Cup owners.

( for my wee girls school project )

Well, my Cup arrives tomorrow so I aint quite an owner (yet), but here are my reasons for choosing a Cup over a 172 Sport...

Colour
Alloys
Peformance & handling
Price
Better Spoiler & front splitter
The blue coloured interior detailing
Exclusivity

If they did a new Clio with the luxury spec of a 172 Sport, but had the rest of the Cup stuff (colour, alloys, spoiler, handling tweaks, etc...) then Id probably have gone for that!

Price wasnt the main issue here, as I got my car cheap anyway and could get a full UK 172 from a main dealer for less than a Cup costs list price!

  172 Cup

1. Performance (had a 172, this is much better)

2, Colour (wheels much better looking too)

3, Cost

Thats about it!

1) Performance (for a hot hatch). Considered an Impreza, but I like smaller cars

2) Cost (Bought new)

3) Colour/alloys (Great combo - really stands out)

4) It completed my hat-trick of French manufacturers! (Pug 205 GTi, then Saxo VTR now Renault Clio Cup)

I bought it for the following, the first two dont exisit anymore.

1) Limited run of 500

2) The performace upgrades

3) Power to cost ratio

4) Colour

5) Cause I like being shafted by Renault. (Only realised this one since buying it);)

To be honest I bought it cause of the complete package looks, performance etc. Never drove one before I got it, bit stupid, but was a good move.

The real shame thats its built and sold by Renault. Just been to VW with a work mate as brake light had gone. They not only gave her the bulb for free but also fitted it for free while we waited. Also the coffee tasted like coffee. My local dealer was supposed to have phoned me 3 weeks ago to arrange some paint work under warranty, heard nothing since. Gone to Gordon Lamb in Chesterfield now.

1 track use

2 occasional need for back seats (hence not a caterham)

3 power to weight to cost

4 moderate cost to upgrade/run/insure

5 affordability if I write it off on track

oh, and its not japanese ..

1. Affordability, group 16 insurance when your 20 is not amusing

2. Power to weight fun!

3. Zippy and torquey engine

4. Lack of them around

5. Giant killing stats

6. Oh and how can I forget the grin you get from driving it!! :D

Never considered a Clio before. Found the Cup by accident whilst on the way to decide which one of 3 used imprezas (w/x reg UK turbos) I was going to buy for £11k; I didnt get to the subaru garage.

  Clio Trophy ,EFI'd 5GTT

i got 1 ,8 months ago and thats me just got rid of all the probs i had with it..there was a strange noise comeing from the front suspension when turning also aload of other niggilin probs they finally found the problem and im starting to enjoy owning it now ...

reason i got 1 was i own a renault 5 gtturbo that i spend most of me hard earned cash on and needed a car for day to day that my otherhalf could drive so i bought the 1.2 dynamic 16v ..it was also a great wee car for her to learn in so as soon as she got her license wee bought the cup as i was fed up getting overtook ...

1. Power to weight (wanted to upgrade from my Cupra 16v)

2. Price (was considering new Scooby, Focus RS, Civic, but didnt want to spend that much)

3. Handling (was a track day addict...)

ABS would have been nice, just to stop the tyres smoking.

Dont really care about colour, style, wheels, interior etc, I just want to drive!
