f4r 736 misfires. vvt timing?

Hello, ive recently fitted another head on my clio. I timed it up using the special tools require for the cams and crank. The car runs ok but it misfires on tick over. Sometimes the car is slow but most of the time it pulls well and you can feel the vvt coming in at around 4k. Also recently after using it a while its developed a whine (like a supercharger noise) through all the rev range. upon start up you have to rev it to get it whining but then it stays. Ive checked for air leaks and there is none. i believe it must be the dephaser pully not being set correctly. I didnt set it as i could see how to (should of found out!!) Can anyone tell me how to do this please or have an idea whats causing the problems?Thankyou

hi mate, VVt kicks in at around 1.5k fyi. remove the cam seals and see if the timing is still within, otherwise it could be electrical related (diagnostics would be a good route).

well i thought if the cams are set and there isnt a key way for the pulleys it doesnt matter where they go. which part of the vvt pulley do you lock? Renault will bend me over to that lol!

no, it's a specialist job. I wouldn't let a maindealer touch it. Ordered my locking tools through a main dealer and they struggled to find them on the parts database, so they asked the workshop and they didn't appear to even have a set

The parts counter part I can believe, but surely they would have them in the shop :S Bloody dealers
