can i just say mat, you have built an absoloute beast. that car ALMOST managed to convince my mate to forget his 10 year affair with VW and buy a clio similar to Adis! i am still getting over how fast this thing is!

  Trophy

Cheers,

I like doing things well, still hadnt actually finished, but the bill for the rest was more than what i just sold the car for!

Mat.

Jesus, in the process of talking Adi into T/Bs, not that i think the car needs it! Excellent car, even though it has silly power the car is very well balanced and doesnt really have problems puting the power down, well done to you and nick hill!!!

  clio 20v

already on the case with the big brakes defo nxt mod

and putting the power down smoothly is more to do with a gentle right foot it will and does spin if u boot it

leather is in now and me stereo

17s may be making a comeback for the shows if i can salvage 3 of my ht3s but wont be staying on for daily use i love the handling too much

adi

  williams and trophy

u need to make it a bit quikka at the top end mate to keep with us willy boys with nervous passengers im afraid lol

tis a mint motor tho

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Faster than most Williams out there anyway 2 live! Only a few Clios will even compete!

Urs must have similar engine mods for a 1/4 mile time like that?

  williams and trophy

hahahaha

here we go again

evrything on the car is as it left the showroom except the k&n panel filter and the devil decat with powerflow s/s zorst.

craggy will vouch (and adi for that matter) for when the limiters cut in ......specially in top i know craggy enjoyed that one lol

and in evry other gear

adis car is quikka than mine at the bottom end but it seems from like third gear onwards i start reeling him in and eventually pass him at about 100

by 120 im more or less pulling away from him

then the limiters cut in bout 135-140 ask craggy for more exact speeds i was kinda busy lol

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

except the k&n panel filter and the devil decat with powerflow s/s zorst.

WOW! Thats a quick car considering Adis has had ALL THAT work done!

But hang on; Adis (matbrowns old 16v) has a proven 170bhp! I wouldnt have thought a willy with those mods will have over 160bhp!

If u get this all the time can u link me to an explanation. Thanks.

Whats the willys standard 1.4 mile? Cheers.

  williams and trophy

wen i bought it it ran 15.7s

after the decat it ran 15.3s

after the rest of the zorst and filter it regularly runs 14.9s with a few dips into the 14.8s

ask anyone who has been in or raced against this car...................it aint no slouch lol

oh it has 149 mailto:bhp@the">bhp@the wheels as seen in pgti cliosports r/r day feature

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

:eek:Adis has 131 BHP at the wheels, so urs is unbelieveable. It just cant be any more than 160BHP at flywheel though? So that BHP at the wheels is proven?

Is urs a special one?

Have u not had this discusion somewhere else?

  williams and trophy

well no not really ...cos iv just bought craggys willy 2 also and that is about the only other 1 iv come accross that runs about the same 1/4 times

and yes the 149 is proven..with printouts and mag feature........1/4 times proven by time slips and the actual people i was racing......top speed etc proven by other people on this list who have been in my car

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Those mods wouldnt make such a difference in a 16v i wouldnt have thought, especially with the de-cat as it slowed my 0-60 time by about 0.5secs. I have a worthy PiperX IK with heat shield & alright cold air ducting plus Scorpion cat-back Xorst.

I need to 1/4 mile time mine before i can really comment on it, but 14s sounds awesome. The standard CTR & 172 are more than that arent they?

A standard 16v does it in the 16s, maybe Adis needs some fine tuning to realise the full potential of 170bhp? Wheel size, back pressure, etc.

I thought 14s was amazing for any modded 16v so maybe a Willy is just as quick due to sportier cams already on the 2litre engine? What wheels were used for ur times; the standard 185,55,15s? Cheers.

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Yep, just checked members 1/4 mile times & Adis, matbrowns old 16v is amazing, just that 2 lives Williams must be a rarity!

2nd only to a relativly highly modded 172, Adis 16v that is.

Does the 2lt Hill Power conversion superchip get tinkered with to suit every individuals 16v to improve fueling and prevent pinking etc?

PS; why have u put 131bhp @ the wheels in ur 1st post mate?

  Trophy

Forgot to add it, was a copy and paste.

Think the HP chips are preset to certain mods but not set up to each car.

Mat.

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Hows the fueling/air mixture correct for the cyclinders then? Especially with such extensive mods?

There was a thread not long ago about an IK causing cars to run lean! :)

But a R/R would tell u that so Adis must be sweat anyway.

  Trophy

Yeah,
Think it is a mod Nick has done many a time so he has a chip ready to suit.
At the first RR at Power Engineering they said it was spot on.

Mat.

  mk2 172

lol, yeah, hitting the limiter at 140 is rather scarey on a sat afternoon on the m1! and yeah that things fast as fook. as jons said hes bought my williams which ran 15.0 with de-cat and exhaust and then 14.8 with chip

craggy

  clio 20v

we will find out the power output compared to jons at the nxt rr day hehe

jons is stupidly quick for a standard car its just a quick 1, same as craggys and my silver one was a good engine

mine does seem to run out of steam top end due to the valver box i think it would do nearly 150 on the clock with a willy box

adi

  williams and trophy

yeah a willy box is a must for that monster engine mate

would be intresting to see how they compare cos i think ud lose a little on bottom end with a willy box

  320d M Sport

adis new car is sweet as, not usually that keen on the old valver shape but adis really is one of the best ive seen, as is clean16Vs. im gonna have a pop against adi this week so ill see how i do, acordinfg to his AP22 the stats are similar. ps u goin York in a few weeks adi?

  williams and trophy

mikey mate my old valver used to run 16.3s

after a filter de-cat n s/s zorst it ran a best of 15.9

i realised that to get a valver anywhere near competitive with the nova 2 litre boys it would take some serious coin..........hence the willy 1

i figured instead of chuckin wads at a valver id throw the same wad and sell the valver, enuff money to buy the willy then and still have same power, but i then have a classic car that is still worth what i paid for it,which is more than can be said for throwing 000s at a valver.fair enuff if ur planning on keeping it forever.cos ul neva get 1/2 back of what uv put into it........ask matt ......he sold the hcar for less than he had in the engine ish .....and thats 1 of the best examples around

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Thats the case with ALL cars 2 live, even the Willy. Buyers would preferable like a standard example and pay less rather than one thats had its engine made to put out massive BHP over standard!

I think Adis 16v is worth every penny but its only a select few that want such a highly tuned car, which is why mat only got 1/2 back for it.

If u ran ur old 16v in a 1/4 run with just a well feed cold air IK & S/S im confident ull beat 15.9. The de-cat just saps too much power at lower speeds and although it makes up for it at around 60/70mph it cant beat the time its already lost to a 1/4, IMHO that is.

  williams and trophy

yeah i know what ur sayin about the bottom end and de-cat.

iv told ged and a few oters this before they had theirs fitted

but ...you cant argue with 1/4 mile times.and maybe on the 1800 there is a little too much lost on bottom end with the de-cat, but again look at the 1/4 mile times...15.9 for a standard 1800 16v with powerflow s/s zorst n k&n 57i runnin on 16s with 205/45/16s on.........this is over 2 years ago,and i believe thats a time thats stood for quite a while for a boggo 1
