I had mine measure at Bedford last weekend, was a little shocked to find it registered 88db.

No idea what mine is, assuming it's louder being on bodies and having no cat? TBH I thought it was pretty quiet on yours Chris when I heard it... mine seems quiet to me too, unless I'm giving it death!

it's not that bad, it's just at idle it's a bit bad as it thuds a little lol... still, once you are driving it's just like any other car on the road for noise... If my moaning parents didn't find it that bad then that means it cant be that bad... mind you they still moan when it's sat on the street idling

88 is nice, not to quiet, not too loud, most track days have a 90 - 100db limit.

My standard 205 was 86.

only phone clips, but it sounds completely different... I'm still trying to get my mate out to take some video footage... if he's off work tomorrow I'll try and get some of it at idle, accelerating normally through the gears, accelerating in 5th to motorway speeds and a couple of flat out AV IT ones...

Not a chance. Not one 172 decatted has flamed/popped/banged that i've had or seen. They just don't. Old valvers/williams yes, but not a 172 (unless ITB'D )

Mk2 Ph1 should as it's got the cable throttle... My Williams never flamed or popped until the pedal was adjusted to be looser, then you just had to tap it and it would pop and bang away... :S

ITB'd ones and cam'd ones deffo pop, bang and flame though, seen that with my own eyes...

Mk2 ph1 has the same engine/ECU set up as a ph2. The valvers etc were more old school. As you said if cammed and ITB yes, but if standard..... no. Mine never has (remapped) and i've had many decatted exhausts on mine

Well mines cammed, so it will and does pop a little. just waiting for the Bodies.

what if a really old person drives it and you put some 205 GTI pepper pots on, would that make it old school enough to pop?
