FAO O2 contract people...

i used to think o2 were good but had nothing but problems recently. just today i've seen they have put me on the wrong contract i asked for so have been getting charged for peak use. just on phone to the now, idiots!

Well, what happened was.................

I called them 8+ weeks ago due to the change in charges for NGN's. I never received the txt or email, so I presumed it was not going to effect my contract which was only renewed in April for 18 months, however I thought i'd try my luck and see if I could blag a new phone.

Was told I had to goto retentions.

They asked me about what the text said etc to confirm I had received it and I just read what I had read on forums which others had received. I was then asked if I wanted to upgrade or to cancel my contract. I choose to upgrade and said I would wait for the iphone.

Once the ipone was released I called them to order and was told that I should of responded by 28th Sept and i'd need to write to there complaints dept who would respond within 14days.

I never got round to writing my letter but thought i'd phone them and give them a mouth full anyway lol

Called and went straight to complints, explained the situation and told them I had not had a reply to my letter, which I sent 6 weeks ago and that I was demanding they cancel my contract here and now.

"Calm down sir, let me speak to my manager and see what we can do for you"

2 mins later

"I cannot cancel your contract, you would have to re submit that in writing, however I am able to offer you a free upgrade to any phone you wish. Would you still like the iphone?"

No thanks, can I have the N82 when its released next month.

"Ok sir, I have made a note of that on the system, and once we receive them you will get yours within 48hrs"

the girl I just got was trying to say I wasn't on the 30 day rolling contract and that she could actually incur more charges on my account as I had signed an 18 month contract in March!

Gave her a verbal, she checked her notes and saw that I had tried to cancel my contract due to the T&C's changing and had been offered this 30 day contract. She apologised and said I can upgrade whenever now :)
 
Oh damn :(

I really want a new phone but just paid my 11th month of my 18 month contract (I think)

Is there any way to blag an early upgrade in my situation?

Tell them you received the NGN change txt back in Sept, that you didnt realise you was able to cancel until a friend mentioned last night that this is what he had just done.

They will probably either

A: Tell you to write to O2 Complaints, Chester Rd, Preston Brook, Cheshire, WA7-3QA and explain what happened

B: Offer you a new contract

I made a point of saying I would be happy to renew if given the opportunity.

That is neither here nor there, they have made a significant change to the contract and is enough reason for you to be allowed to cancel.

If you dont want to call them, just write directly to the addy above and see where that gets you.

Other then using the NGN change to your advantage you are pretty much stuck.............Only way out will be buying yourself out of your contract

Was in a o2 shop today and asked when the N82 was being released got a blank look and said we have only just released the N81.
Phoning up tomorrow to see if they will pre order N82 for me too!

Well I kept going on the O2 site, and even though I was sure I had sent loads of messages, and made loads of calls, the O2 site still showed that I had only used not even half of my allowance (Or maybe so I thought - the site is so confusing though) so even though I thought I had used so many, I still thought I had a load left, so carried on using my phone like mental, and then my bill came today, and it turns out I have gone WELL over my allowance.

£400 is some hardcore useage tho!!

I got offered unlimited texts (capped at 22k! lol) 500mins, unlimited data, any phone for £20 a month! Told him if he gave me the iPhone id take it, but he wouldnt! lol.. So I cancelled!
 
200 sorry. £260.11 to be exact. Don't know how I managed to miss type that lol.

Looking at my actual bill in detail (as opposed to that shitty allowance page) it's mental seeing how much I text certain people.

When I pay this bill I am going to ring up and see about an upgrade. I have had a 390 quid bill as well this year, so they have made s**t loads off me, it's the least they could do lol.

Aint the highest bill ever but when the O2 site tells me I still have free allowances left, so I carry on texting as usual, and then my bill comes through and I open it expecting it be 30 odd quid, and it turns out to be 260 I was pretty pissed off.
 
apparently you can upgrade 15months into an 18 with o2.

Just about to pay my 12th I think.

If you've been on contract for at least 12 months, you probably qualify for a handset upgrade. If you want to upgrade, you can do so via the o2 online website, or by calling the o2 upgrade line on 08702 259933

Might give that a go. Worst that can happen is they say no.

fao the detailer, just out of interest, what did you say, you hadn't received the txt, or did? when was this, would i still be able to blag it? the ngn thing is 0845 etc numbers isn't it?

If they say no I will just buy a new phone and sell it when I am finally allowed my upgrade.

Dont know how or why but they keep rolling over my minutes!!!!​

They keep giving me 2250 minutes a month and 2500 text per month and 1MB of downloads all for £35 so cant really complain about 02. Been with them a while and they give me my upgrade for free every time.

no its just you get a seperate number to call, and they seem more helpful.

It's a piss take, I lowered my tariff a while ago as it seemed pointless paying for what I wasn't using, and now I am going over, lol. Can they change it again, or will they moan?

They should be able to switch this over as you are guaranteed to give them the higher monthly line rental. What happened to the customer is always right?

That's just a silly thing to say, lol. I have a nice car but not a lot else.

And I am just pissed off at the fact that the O2 site quoted me to still have more than half my free allowance left, then bills me at 260 notes.
