FAO ppl with alpine HU

  Cupra K1 & Clio 200

Ive just recently brought and fitted a CDA-7984RB (or something like that), and ive fitted it myself (with help from a friend). Anyway, every time i turn the car off, it never goes back to where i was wen i left it, e.g. listening to a cd or station preset. it doesnt even turn on when i turn the car on! i have to press the power button on the unit. so when i do turn it on it goes to tuner 85.0 which is like factory settin. then i have to fiddle around to the track that i was on last time, which is a bit of a ba$tard! especially when u got like 200 songs.

Is it because i have made a wrong connection, or are alpine this generally stoopid? Thanks

ive got an alpine md head unit with a cd changer and it doesnt do that. I didnt wire it in myself, but from experience most cars have a wire that supplies power when the ignition is on and another one if you want the stereo on all the time, i dont know if thats any help, but you could try the other one.

I have that headunit and it needs a direct feed from the battery, i was advised by the dealer i brought from to run some 8awg from the batter or splice into the 4awg that i had for my amp. It needs a good power feed!

See the red and yellow wires on the loom for the headuint, swap them over and that will sort it. Anymore help you need give me a shout

so thats it? right sounds simple enough, will be on the job soon. also another quick question if you dont mind. what is the DC/DC convertor for? its so friggin big, its a right struggle to fit the head unit in the dash!! has anyone had any problems as well? theres so many wires and stuff, i really have to give it some umph to get it in. is there a way where i can make the space deeper so its less of a budge? thanks

You just need to position it right before you put the unit in. Use your hand and clear the way for the unit to go in. PUs wires down the side, anywhere they will go out of the way where the headunit is going in.

I had serious problems with this today! I didnt really want to take the top of the dash off as my cars brand new but I ended up havin to this morning when the b*****d got stuck half way in and it wasnt coming out either. I thought while Im here Ill pop down to my local ICE dealer and pick up the steering column controls while im doing it....turns out only one dealer had them and the one they supplied me with was duff! So I returned that only to finish my fitting to then find out my 7876RB decided to go faulty and not eject my CD and not respond to controls from the face (but was fine from the remote)...I stupidly decided to continue fitting it then remembered the dash is gonna have to cum off to remove it again to send it away for repair (using my special I work for halfords extended warranty ;)

anyways just thought Id bore u all for a bit...plus by the way the dash removal guide on the main page is incorrect...doesnt mention u have to remove the A pillar trims before the dash will pull away! took me ages to suss it out! damn u!

The DC/DC converter is the power converter so the head can kick 60w/ch....at least my 7876 does....although dont use the internal amps, got a 5 channel Directed pumping in the boot :)

Again, which is why it needs running direct from the battery on a 20amp fused feed.

I got a very good deal on my stalk adaptor...I work for Ripspeed, part of halfords basically so I know all the local ICE dealers and ppl in the industry...halfords doesnt give its staff v.good discount but I popped into my local sextons and one of the boys I know who works there did it for 40 quid and theyd fit it if I wanted it for free....trade price on it is 35 quid so I well pleased! if anyones interested once my 7876 RB is fixed Im gonna b sellin it for £225...its absolutely mint! I look after my gear and this is the first piece of kit thats ever gone faulty on me!

any offers?

On the subject of stalk controls, Ive got a 02 1.6 Dynamique+ and Im looking at changing the HU, but was put off by the fact Ill loose the stalk controls with some HUs... Which make HUs can you get adaptors for, Ive seen Kenwood and Sony (not that Im gonna be silly and buy sony tho :) ) also is there anywhere online to pick them up, Im down in Wokingham (just outside Reading) and not sure of local ICE dealers and whod have them.

Any suggestions appreciated, cheers all
Ian

Right ok, following on (after a while i know, but still), ive finally come round to finishing my HU installation, and ive hooked up the sub-amp to the sub-output from the HU. I have also turned the HPF and LPF off on both of my amps, because i can control the x-over frequencies on the HU.

The thing is, the bass sounds absolutely dead now. ive turned the equaliser settin on the HU to max (7), and still sounds quiet. I think it has something to do with the frequency settings on the unit, but it has no mention of these settings in the instruction manual. Can anyone tell me their settings for their CDA-7894RB head unit please. Theres the normal equaliser settings, then the HPF and LPF cut-off frequencies, and another set of frquencies which im not sure about. Any help is much appreciated, thanks again

set your lpf to 80 and your hpf between 120-160

the tc should be at 12.5

the bw should be set to 2

ok, so what happens if i increase the bass width? theres like a treble width thingy aswell init. sorry about being lame with this, its just that my old HU never had this many features...and the manual is useless!
