FAO: Pro Detailers - Paint Depth Reading Charge

A question for those that make a living off of details/corrections.

The 182 went about a month ago and has been replaced with a 330D. It looks to have been corrected a while back as there's very little defects however the paint in direct sunlight does look a bit dulled due to being washed with wheel wash all over, so the previous owner tells me. I'm pretty sure that some 203s and/or 85D is all that's required.

I've got all the kit (DAS-6 Pro, Menz compounds, Sonus pads, clay etc) as I gave the 182 a MP a few months before selling it however this car is of much greater value so really don't want to **** the paint.

You never know what the paint levels could be like or if it's had any respray work however I'm unsure if I want to shell out the cost of a PDG (£200) at the moment so am wondering what you would be looking to charge to come out and give someone some readings off each panel? I may well end up getting a PDG but would be interested to see what a professional would charge for readings.

Could be an idea to let people know where abouts you are located, it's a fair request and someone may be able to help you if they aren't too far away.
Thinking about it why don't you contact some local detailers and ask the question, you may just have to take your car to them.

I'm in the Watford/Rickmansworth area (Hertfordshire).

I do plan to give a few locals a ring but was after some rough ball park figures as to what pro's would expect. As if it's higher than I'm willing to pay then I'll save myself the bother and just get a PDG.

I would be very surprised if anyone I know would charge you.

Pay for petrol, maybe. But it will take very little time - unless there are issues with your paint (low readings). In which case I would be advising you not to correct it yourself without the PDG on hand.
