Fast ticking sound when clutch released on gear changedown

Hi! Just bought a 1996 Clio 1.2 - so probably doesn't qualify as a 'Cliosport' car. Really pleased with it so far. Great fun weaving around town etc.

Only funny noise is when I change down from gear 4 / 5 to 2 / 3 and release the clutch to slow down. It ticks at 30 mph / ticks slower at 20 mph and has finished by the time it needs changing to 1st. Pushing the clutch pedal back down at any point stops the sound.

Probably not unique to Clio, but does anyone know what this normally means / what needs replacing / fixing? Thanks.

Mine makes a wierd clicky noise when pulling off sometimes
