Faux Carbon wrap

Last Sat-R-Day tried my hand with some leftover 'carbon' vinyl from a befriended signmaker, doing full carwraps too...

Vinyl foil has the correct directional weave for that 3D Carbon effect.

Couldn't live no longer with the pitted Alu bullets on Gris Iceberg!
It now has a nice contrast instead of silver on silver and subtle detail (the carbo weave)...

Have the Streamline Carbon bullets lying round, but the wrapping took under half-a-hour.

Darken the F1 rims and fit Eibach's and i'm done for the summer!

Hello in downunda',

Not hard it just a adhesive vinylfoil...
Apply it as a sticker...

Just take care of the angle of the weave, to your preference!
Start at the top then apply it with pressure, pressing airbubbles away... heat it up with hairdryer so it will shrinkwrap itself / conforms it to the shape.

Let it set and cut off excess with a sharp knife.

The 2.0 16v lettering needs some attention... follow the contours with your nails, reheat if necesarry. If you got airbubble pinch it so air can escape and rub it smooth.

Guess if you clear 'em over, they be permanently attached.

Instead of removeable foil...

If else, why not use real carbo matting ie. dry carbon.
But then you'd get stuff like the other guy is selling parts overhere.

This was just quick 'n easy.

I used carbon vinyl on my splitter, its pretty impressive how real it looks when the light hits it.

However I did find that it did not respond well at all to any heat. I literally passed a heat gun over in for a second and it warped into an right mess.

That looks really good. My bullets are pitted as well and I've been wanting to get them resprayed, but this is another idea.

It's only 100 Micron in thickness... so a heat gun will blow it!

The hairdryer was only to used to conform the foil across the 2.0 16v lettering.

On the diamond it was just applied 'cold'.

The leftover piece pic. doesn't show it but next to the correct 'carbon twill' pattern it has a unidirectional strand surface for that 3D effect like actual carbon.

Only gelcoated carbon gets a deeper sheen, lights gets interferred more...
