Few problems!!

  1.2 172 conversion
Right i will start from the beggining..

my car started as a 2004 1.2 clio but recently dropped the 172 sport lump in it and have only just got it started after a few problems with emmobiliser and a faulty wiring loom..when started it runs fine no overheating and everything works as it should..problem number 1 as im going to be using epas rather thatn the pas is there anyway i can fill the pas pump and cap it off as when engine gets up to temperature smoke comes out of the pump i cant afford atm to take it off and replace aux belt just focused on getting it back on the road..problem number 2 is the stop light constantly stays on but cant think as to why it is doing it
any help would be appreciated as i want to get it in for mot beggining of next week

No you can't cap the pas pump. Don't run it dry either, else it'll sieze and rip the aux belt to shreds and take the cambelt out.

The stop light will be accompanied by another light.

What belt would i have to get if i took the pas pump off then ? Only other light that is on is the engine management but i think thats because the lambard sensors aint connected to the exhaust yet

Lambda sensors don't even cause a serv light letalone a stop one. Have you got the handbrake on?

as for belt, don't know. you'll need to make up Some form of tensioning it too

It depends how you intend on tensioning it. You can't just ask for a belt like that. It's like asking me to suggest a shirt for you to buy. You could be a 56" chest or a 30".

just out of intrest . with all mot stations connected to the dvla database would they know that its meant to be a 1.2 ?

Or would looking on ebay for someone breaking a 172 cup ? So why couldnt i use the original alternator brackets and tensioner ? Does anyone know which belt i have to get

If your removing the pas pump the tensioner won't work. As it tensions the belt between the pas pump and alternator. The belt will also interfere with itself.

The other option is buy the PMS air con delete kit I think you can remove the pas with that too

Sounds like you're going to have nothing but issues with that. Did you change the rear beam? Surely your brakes are going to be shite? Not to mention everything else that comes with with it. Just google 172 air con delete but unless you're actually racing the thing its hardly worth it imo

Have just been looking at the aircon delete kits and cant afford that at the moment only other thing is i leave the aircon pump (or will that seize aswell) on and use the belt everyone else has used while converting to epas..just need the cheapest easiest way around it

All the running gear off the clio sport has been fitted to the 1.2 i payed 400 for a 172 with minor front end damage

leaving the aircon on will be fine.

the Pas pump wont, unfortunately, there is no cheap way around it. the cup aux setup goes for about £150.

All of those running the ePas conversions are running cup's or cup setup.

Meant to put alternator aswell..so it will be fine to leave aircon pump even though its not connected up to any pipes ?

Like said you need an AC delete kit, it's about £150 new or £100 second hand, it comes with a bracket and tensioner but a blank as well I think for the AC.

TBF it sounds like you should just leave the car, unless this is for Hardkore track days I wouldn't bother with any of it, or just sell the lot and buy a 172 CUP and change the steering, too many mods for a poor little 1.2 to handle, I especially wouldn't have done this without changing the rear brakes over and the suspension etc, that should be done way before worrying over steering.

He's only leaving it as epas as its already fitted.

When you say poor 1.2 to handle, the shell is no different to a 172 unless it has a sunroof in which that'll be the only difference.

If you didnt read my earlier comment i changed all the running gear over i had bought the whole car..everything the sport runs on is on that car including brakes and suspension
