FFS!

finally dropped my 172 into my dealers today for warrenty repairs on the gearbox after waiting over 3 weeks for them to take it in. Just had a phone call from the tech to say he cant find anything wrong with it. I asked had he actually looked under the car and seen the fluid coming out and he said no hed only taken it for a test drive and plugged the diag laptop in.

Apparently its normal for a 172 gearstick to move from side to side 2 inchs in 1st 3rd and 5th, as is having a drivers seat that rocks backwards and forwards. ffs I know theyre bad but this just takes the piss.

Pete as we both know this is most def not normal. ( Braintree to Chelmsford Driving and even i knew that) can i suggest taking said mechanic by the scruff of his neck and teaching him that cars need to be looked at with more than a F***ing computer stupid fecking place.

hope you get some joy with them.

Try romford Renault a treck but ive heard nothing but good things about them.
ill back this up, renault romford from my esperience are good, better still i think renault ilford

Yeah, everyone whos seen it has been shocked at how bad the 1st, 3rd and 5th movement is let alone the squeaks and noise its making while moving, to not even think about the fact its losing gearbox oil from a leak underneith is just pathetic.

Might have to make the trek to romford for it if they dont do anything at lookers.

That Integra Type R is looking very appealing at the moment, had enough of 172/clio ownership and all that it brings with it. :(

id like a teggy next, older one tho

jus poped into renault romford and the sales team are on the ball, within 30seconds of being on the forecourt, i had 2 salesmen come up to me, one of which gave me a detailed stocklist of all used cars, also asking me if i needed any assistance or wanted any queeries, asked a couple and good answers straight off, no fobbing. they also had a few people in the showroom as well so not as if they are twiddling thumbs

well done to them

Four hours after the initial conversation where it was claimed nothing was wrong and heard nothing back, whats the odds on them just leaving it and not bothering and telling me nothing was wrong when I go to pick it up!

Me thinks I might have to chase them up on this.

Bunch of f**king useless c**ts, Ive now got to drive back to the dealers 30miles from work to demonstrate the fault as theyre too f**king stupid to realise that major in gear movement is wrong!

Just got back, complete waste of time, the w**ker rte came out with a tosspot attitude, couldnt see a problem, blamed the windscreen for the noises, said the movement was normal, didnt even bother looking for the fluid leak underneith, said I should complain about one of the other squeaks instead, I just said its a reanult I thought the squeaks were standard!

Just about to ring up and complain about his attitude.

Who did you go out with? Not a bloke called Ken was it? I think hes the new workshop manager, taken over from Andy again.

The couldnt fix my buzzing noise either.... infact its worse now than the last time they looked at it.

So tempting just to order another car.... trouble is, it would probably just be a 182 and Id get the same problems all over again!

Ill tell you what, its weird going from a 1.4 megane to a 2.0 clio! Clutch feels heavy, gear change is heavy, brakes dont put you through the window etc etc.

Well latest update, just had a phone call to say the cars ready for collection, with only the cold start problem looked at, apparently its normal to find half a pint of gearbox oil leaking out. Had enough of this b****cks from them.

Renault UK have logged the complaint for me and Im awaiting a call from the service manager at lookers. I dont expect to have anything resolved from the phone call if it actually happens.
