I am currently a design student at uni, third year and my Toshiba laptop has decided to die.... need something cheap but effective.

I have a great current set up, (desktop keyboard laying over laptop and a bundle of celotape holding the charge wire in because it decides it doesnt want to charge either)

As far as i can tell this is the best current deal (as much as i DESPISE PC world)

u can get some good deals on eBay if u know what ur looking for


edit - guess u will need a half decent graphics card if you are going to be doing design stuff on it?

edit2 - 2 hour battery life!!! WTF! (and that will be "once in a blue moon u may get 2 hrs)

Battery life not an issue, have a million power points at uni, its only gotta last me til the end of the year really....

Graphics cards are more for playing games and stuff, more focused on processor and RAM, i'm looking around 400£ so this seems to be the best i can get... was just wondering if anyone knew of any better deals out there.

If you are needing to buy one tonight then the Dell is a good spec for the money so you'll not go far wrong there.
