Finding MPG?

How do you figure it out if you car doesn't tell you?

My tanks is 45 liters.

45 liter = 9.8986162 gallon

if i do say 500 miles to one tank of petrol, that means i have an MPG of 500 :S

Er, no.

If your tank is 9.90 gallons (rounded up), and you do 500 miles on a full tank, you have done 500 divided by 9.90 = 50.51 MPG (Miles Per Gallon).

litres in gallons x 0.22
so 350 miles on 38 litres (38x0.22=8.36gallons) = 350/8.36=41.87mpg

cant belive how thick i was, i was treating it as .990.. not 9.90.

50mpg sounds pretty good to me

I find it better to fill the tank as full as you can get it, then when you come to fill it up next time, fill it to the brim and read off how many litres you put in from the pump. Take your mileage from the speedo and work it out from there.

1.4 16v i do 112 miles a day and havent filled up for 4 days so that makes 448 miles, then add just pottering about ontop of that.
