Basically my desktops gone titsup so i'm using an old desktop that belonged to my ex . Both desktop pc's have virgin media broadband . So i thought just a quick swap over of the modem and i'll be away . How wrong i was , lol.

I'm currently on the internet in " safe mode " as when i let the pc boot up i can't connect to the net , emails etc .....

I've deleted sygate firewall and avg and i still can't get on the net . So i've got no firewall or anti virus running at the moment .

Anybody got any ideas what could be stopping me accessing the net , any settings i can change ?

Any help would be much appreciated .

My desktops gone titsup , something terminal i think . So i have a spare desktop my ex gave me . Only a crappy old thing but it was on ntl/virgin media same as me . So i thought i'd just plug my modem into her old pc and off i'd go . But when i boot it up normally i can't connect to the net , but i can when i boot in safe mode . I rang virgin medias helpline and the guy said it was probably the firewall ( sygate ) . So i uninstalled the firewall and AVG to see if it was any of these causing the problem . But that hasn't solved my problem .

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas what else might be stopping me connecting to the internet when i boot up normally or if there are any settings i can change ? . I'm on a cable modem with ethernet connection .

If you're plugging a Virgin cable modem in to a different network card, your MAC address has probably changed.. so you'll need to reregister it?
