First Car??

  Punto
Iv been looking at 1.2 16v clios lately (new shape) and for an 05 plate one they want like 5 and a half for one with very low milage, personaly i think thats very good right??

Was just woundering if anyone has had one as there first car and ifso, did you have it on finance??

Take it's one of the Campus models? There cheap now as the majority of people are buying the Mk3, go for a Dynamique model if you can.

Mine is my first car, been great for me, bought it outright though.

I wouldn't bother with financing a 1.2, pointless spending £5k on a nearly new first car.
Just get a ph2 1.2 16v dynamique on says a 51 plate for £2.5k, cheap enough to ensure third party and you won't lose any money on it when you sell it after a year. Trust me you will get bored with it, excellent no claims builders, its what I did, I didn't lose any money on mine.

yer it is a dynamique model, just want to no how much money people where paying for finance, insurance etc

Ive got the new model...had it as my first car and paid outright aswell.
5 and a half for an 05 sounds ok depending on spec etc. dynamique is something like £10,500 new and i got mine 4 months old with 3k managed to get the main dealer down to £8,000 so theres a saving to be made if you hassle em.
All of that was just rubbish if your talking about the campus though, it should be cheaper compared to the mk3!

There could be 1 to 2 grand on top of that in interest if it's Renault Finance though.

I would have a good thought about what AlexS said. It's some sound advice. My mate bought a brand new MK3 billabong and is bored with it already. It's feels too heavy and doesn't shift to save itself. Alot more fun with mods etc can be had with a MK2 ph1 or even a cheap ph2.

Im only basing it on my own experiences, I know its tempting to buy the newest car you can and at the time I had the cash in the bank for a brand new one. However a 1.2 is always going to be a temporary car until you can afford something quicker as they are insurance/ fuel friendly. Unless its a long term vehicle which i doubt finance is generally to be avoided, you can dump aload of money very easily.
A tidy ph2 dynamique is by no means a banger, quite a nice car for a first car imo (I had a shed of a H reg Polo beforehand) and like I said I bought my 51 plate 1.2 16v to run for a year as a no claims builder, it was great fun to drive, cheap to run, still looked ok, and I sold it for what I paid for it a year and 10k miles down the line. Result 1 yrs NCB get that £5k out the bank and spend it on something worthwhile.
