Cars look good. Get in the photography section if you want to learn how to take decent pictures.

More car and less background/foreground needed imo, quality seems pretty decent though.

It looks like a good quality camera, but I agree with SteBurns that there should be more of the cars in the photo.

Stand closer FFS !

:rasp:

I'm FAR from a decent 'car' photographer, but it seems to take up about 98% of my Flickr space so might be somewhere to start. I've helped a couple of guys out on here recently...

Have a casual flick(r) through my 'car collection' on here if you want some ideas. Feel free to drop me a message if you want any help/tips/ideas..

Pic 4 has the best lighting (just needs to be cropped differently) and pic 5 is getting closer to a good composition. Image quality looks good (except the one where the focus is on the timber pallets not the car! You need an epicly low aperture for that to look artistic!), but overall not bad for a first go!

Things to think about with each shot:
- where's the light coming from?
- where's the main subject (usually the car) in the shot - should be positioned according to the rule of thirds
- what angle are you looking at the car from? IMO the most boring shots are front/rear 3/4 photos shot from standing height (as it's the same view you always look at cars from with your eyes!) Get low or high for something a bit different.

But mostly, practice, practice, practice! Like the giraffe, I'm a complete novice and only offer advice from my own self-taught experience - been shooting cars for about 4 years, just for fun (as I'm out driving them anyway!) but I think my technique and ability has evolved and improved. You can check out my progress here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/walkie86/sets/?&page=1

The way the sun has fallen means that it wasn't the easiest light to shoot in.

You know I'm still a complete newbie, but the best advice I have is if your not shooting in RAW start doing it now (even using basic editing software to change stuff, I only use my canon software!) and take your camera with you as much as possible. Practice makes perfect.

Also, ditch the Auto setting if your using it. Even without shooting full manual mode you will learn so much more about the camera (and eventually start understanding iso, shutter speed, aperture etc...).

Good luck and stick at it! These are better than my first shots, which I look back on embarrassed lol.

Yeah think about lighting more, looks like a sunny day and your car is in the shade most of the time. And closer pics!

Did you take photos behind posts and bushes on purpose? You can't go wrong with the rule of thirds really, unless you're behind a bloody great bush.
