we've figured it, the fuel pump cannot dieliver enough cranking pressure to start without help and thus still not full pressure caulsing the ecu to fire the injectors wrongly.

at this rate, looking at it, its easier to get a second had lowish millage engine with a pump attached as apposed to forking out tons for a new pump.

might stop the bottom end knck aswell. whic i think is a slightly bent con rod tbh!

Getting somewhere finally lol. You looked into a recon pump, won't be that much and a hell of a lot easier. Are you sure it's mechanical knock as you had said it went away from time to time so my thinking would be diesel knock. This happens with bad fuel burn/injection at the wrong time if your unfamiliar with the term.

yupp, but for what its worth in the long run, woth me possibly going to be doing over 1k miles a week soon, and my little brother having this car when he passes, a reconed engine seems better. going on, i dont know what will fail next as this car has fallen apart quicker than i can fix it.

i do know about diesel knock, but renault and my boss have assured me its mechanical.
crappy old injectors overfueling made it sound worse as its making a bgger bang. new injectors made it more quiet as they sprayed properly

nice to know the pump has gone lol. dci engines are really tight tollerences.... no womder something little plays hell
