fitted the 250 pound Simota Carbon airintake

  RS RIP
As was shown in another related thread, i knew i had one laying around as i bought the car with one. i was surprised to see that they cost so much !

when i bought the car i took it off straight away, do'nt like the sound, and went for original with ITG panel. (was also advised by my mechanic)
Since this put on a Stealth exhaust and a Group N flash..

Now when i read the other thread, somebody asking for one, i was curious to see how the car would react to the filter. i had nothing to do so i wacked it on there.

Took it for a spin, 25kilom. run , oh my how dissapointing.... noise is AWESOME (if u like) but it seems less torq-ey ... It also does'nt seem to get from 6000 to 7000, sounds like it's struggling to get there.

It's not all that bad but the original does a better job.

so if you're still thinking of buying this, you'll need a remap or DO'NT BUY IT

so if you change your filter and you have a chip, chances are you gonna have to remap?? is that what your saying?

sorry, stated that wrong there ;

i think you'll need a CUSTOM map for it to ever provide a benefit

One thing was good about this try-out ; i found out that i only had 1 airfeed going to the original airbox so i had to repair/replace that anyway !

After 2 days and 60 km-ish driving i found that this carbon thingy is making my car guzzle down a lot of fuel too :(

Think i'll hurry with the phase 1 airbox....
