Fitting a new air filter

I've got a few quick questions i was hoping someone could answer for me. I'm thinking of putting in a K&N filter if anything just so i dont have to get charged for a new one every year.
What are the benefits in a 1.4 8v? Will it rev more easily? affect fuel consumption?
And do i need to declare it to my insurers? i cant see why i would given that the air filter is a disposable item and you dont have to notify them everytime its serviced and replaced, but no doubt someone will clarify

Thanks

not gunna make a big difference to consumption and i would declare all mods , it is a performance part .

Ok cheers i'll declare it, but will it actually do anything? ie add 1bhp or something. There must be a reason for its being other than being permanent

Cheers

it does make a difference and works better than a std filter , as you will notice it also will save you money in the long run .

performance figure increases will be quite small (you have a 1.4).
