Fitting a new Alarm

Ok, further to my previous problems with my alarm which have started up again for no apparent reason (full moon perhaps?), i've decided to think about putting in a completely new alarm system. Being generally clueless in this area, I thought I would ask for some advice, in particular:

1) What would I roughly expect to pay for a new alarm?
2) What would I roughly expect to pay to get it fitted?
3) Can anyone recommend a new alarm?
4) Can anyone recommend a good place to get a new alarm?

Current alarm I think is just a standard factory fitted on a W reg 172.

Rough summary of the problems on the linked thread, if you cant be bothered to click through, is that my alarm is going mad...it goes off in random intervals and in various frequencies, like a Herbie Goes Banana's fit.

A cat 1 alarm fitted by an approved bloke (as they have to be for insurance) is about £250 or so for a toad or a cobra one, then threy do up in price if you want add-ons etc.

Any place in the yellow pages who is approved is ok.

Toad Cat 1 is about £110 and Cobra cat 1 about £130 on Amazon. So about £100 odd to fit it according to your estimation...

Have asked my local Renault dealer for a quote ... wonder what they'll come back with lol

Forget renault themselves. Get the alarm from the place that will install it.
