Fitting a new number plate

  Clio 2
Hi, this is my first post to the forum I've just got a clio 3 1.2 16v dynamique, I was just trying to work out how hard it would be to fit a new number plate on the front using screws, I've fitted a new one on the back by drilling out the heads of the security screws and putting in new screw s but at the front it doesn't look like you can get in behind the the number plate and I was just wondering whether the screw on the front will have a thread to go into ? or will they be security screws Which would mean I would have to get behind them to fit a new plate, if I have to get behind them then what is the easiest was? Cheers Matt

Just drill two holes through the new number plate, then just screw some self tapping screws into the bumper.

Hey Matt, have you considered going screw-less for a cleaner look? I used some 3M sticky/velcro pads, from Halfords I think, and they've been on for 3 years without any issue at all. Just make sure the surface is 100% clean before you apply the sticky pads.

I thought about that but then I also thought about if It needed changed in the future they wouldn't be easy to take off, would they?

Piece of cake. A lot of people do it and remove plates when they do track days then stick them back on when they're ready to drive home.

If you want to remove the pads just tear them off and go back to screws - the plate will cover any mess left behind so it'll never be an issue, but I'd just leave the sticky pads on forever.

+1 on Velcro, I got them from halfords they are about 2" square. the only way to get them off is by pushing a card in between to separate the velcro.
