fitting a new passenger door?

hi guys...

looking to change my passenger door... had a look on guide section and cant seem to see anything except for how to change the lock over... which i will also have to do.....

wondered if anyone has changed a door over themself and could give me any tips or advice.

how big a job is it? is it worth attempting or should i pay a mechanic to do it for me...

the new door only comes with the window... so ill need to swap over my wing mirror and lock and inside panel etc...

Right, the door itself should be relatively easy... I haven't done one myself, but it's only going to be bolted and pinned in place. I'm sure plenty on here will have taken one right off before.

The complicated bits are actually covered in the guides.

Does the door come with a window regulator too?

I need to do this to my drivers door also, what kind of tool will be needed to pull the hinges and pin free? Can get all of he door card, lock, handles etc off myself.

if i knew what a window regulator was then maybe i could answer hahaha tbh mate im a total noob.. best ive done is fit my rs grill myself... the seller on ebay said it comes with the window... only thing its missing is the wing mirror and the inside panelling... but ill obviously just switch mine onto that...

I'm assuming you've got electric windows?

It's the electric window motor. All of this can be changed over easily enough though, as the mech will come out of yours as a whole piece.

There's a guide on here telling you how to remove the electric window mech, the door card, the locks... that's what I mean all the hard work is done for you.

My honest suggestion for you, see if there's any local members in your area willing to come over and give you a hand.

Do you know anyone off of here yet? Most of the time I find people on here are more than willing to help.

cheers for the info... nah dont know anyone yet... got two of my mates helping me (doing my callipers yellow aswell).... one of them changed a door on his corsa so hes confident itl not be too hard... but im just doing some investigation to make sure we dont get the door off but then not back on ill have another look for the guide....

If you get it off, there's no way you won't get it back on.

Search the guides section and you'll find more about the electric windows, it's quite easy to remove the whole mech though.
