Fitting new gear knob

Hi there guys and girls,
Got a lovely new Richbrook titanium slant top gear knob. Anyone know how to change the standard for a trophy??? See some thread about having to saw the white off????

I'm not certain that it is just screw on and off tho!!!! I initailly thought so but it is extreme tight an you can remove the outer skin and it's just white plastic all the way down. i don't want to damage it even tho have a new one to go on.

You cant really remove the standard one without damaging it, it just needs twisting hard, but they tend to get broke!

Yea it's a nightmare, why do there screw them on so hard, someone have a go at the machine that does that or maybe one extreme strong person.
