Fitting new stereo... what colours are what?

Ive got a new JVC stereo... nothing fancy, and thought i'd have a go at fitting it myself.

Only thing is there is no wiring diagram for the old standard stereo. Anyone got any idea what colours represent what coming out of the console? Ive tried looking in my manuals... but nothing tells me.

Ive never fitted a stereo before, so don't know what relates to what. I have the full colour diagram for the new stereo so i know what wire represents what. I just need to know for the old one.

There seems to be 3 multi-plugs on the back of the old one. (2 large, 1 small). I assume the small one is for the display/sweetring wheel controls... and the other two are for the speakers etc?

I've also tried searching the site to see if it has been covered before... but can't find anything.

Can anyone help?

I've just put a new JVC head-unit in.

You don't use the small connector. The 2 larger connectors plug straight into the ISO wiring adapter (2 plugs changing to 1 wider one) that should have been in the box with your new unit. This plugs straight into the new unit right next to where the fuse is. Which model is yours?

If you haven't got a wiring adapter, you should be able to pick one up from Halfords or from here. At least, that's the one I had to use for my 52 plate Clio 172 even though that website says I shouldn't need one, and it came in the box with my JVC Head-Unit.
