Fitting Speedo Sensor

I've got the problem on my 172 cup where the speedo stops working from time to time and was thinking of changing the sensor myself is it an easy job, should I disconect the battery, I can see the sensor on the gearbox does it unscrew?

It just unpluges the wiring and the sensors can be trouble just strip it down the sensors only cheap you can often tell whats wrong when you take it to pieces.
