White multiplug in engine bay fuse box waterlogged or corroded?Where are you located?

Thanks, it cleared itself then came back .. very strange ...
That`s par for the course. If you get the code read,it will probably be throttle pedal circuit. This means the wiring needs sorting out,NOT replacing pedal or throttle body.
As I said,Mick`s your man.A bit of a hike,but worth the trip.

just went down to my local bodget and scarper place and they put it on a code reader.. multiple cylinder misfire....
Reckons its a coil pack...

Mine is going in today for exactly the same thing mate. Once the mrs car is done he is dealing with mine. Mine too said misfire but wasn't multiple. He said it could possibly be a coil pack but could be many other things. Hopefully both of ours will be an easy fix and not hitting the wallet hard.

rang euro parts and the bit is £42.00 so will have a go at lunch.. not sure if the light for the miss fire will have to be turned off tho..

update .. coil pack on still miss firing..... back for some plugs and leads...
Is it misfiring, you only said it was in limp mode before? No mention of a misfire.Classic case of throwing parts at it.Odds on its a wiring fault as it`s a multiple misfire.
How on earth did we ever diagnose faults before code readers?Coil pack, leads or plugs is a good guess for single misfire, but I would have confirmed it by pulling one lead at a time before spending any money on parts.
Where can I meet Miss Fire?

I'm having a misfire issue sorted today/tomorrow too. Would it be best to ask the mechanic to change leads and plugs first, as they are the cheaper parts? Then coil pack if the problem is still there? Sorry to jump in but I cannot find my thread.

not miss firing its just in limp mode... sorry to be so vague...

Got plugs and leads so will try these...

Thanks for your input SteveM.. just like to add though I am not a mechanic.. hence coming on here to ask for advice...

I used to be in the Mini owners club, and to be honest I love my cars character, let it spit its dummy out from time to time... isn't that why we have them...

Constructive comments always appreciated..

No,let him diagnose the fault, that`s what he`s paid to do.You have to remove the top inlet manifold to change the plugs ,so he would probably tuck you up for that anyway.
If he throws parts at it and it`s not fixed,as in incorrectly diagnosed, refuse to pay for them.
Where in Wales are you based?

He plugged the diagnostics in this morning and it said misfire. I asked if it was likely to be an injector or spark plug and he said it could be many things. It didn't come up as multiple misfires, just 'prolonged' i think. The light only came on and there was only a problem on sat. I live in Bridgend mate.

I`m not trying to be negative, but you have now spent more than I was charged to sort my limp mode problem, trying to fix a misfire that only exist on a code reader!
You asked for advice, and I advised you,do not buy any parts until the wiring has been checked by a specialist, intending to save you a few quid.
No parts were required to fix my wiring fault, just 1.5 hours labour and some workshop sundries, though a code reader said it had a faulty throttle pedal.
If your leads and plugs dont cure it,please take to a specialist,as the next guess will be must be ECU.
I`m going have a go at polishing my headlights now,so your on your own for now.let us know how you get on.

AS I said, let him diagnose it.If he`s any good,he`ll get it right 1st time.I think injectors are quite cheap if it`s that.Good luck.

Will do! Thanks very much for your help!
No problem. If he does change the plugs, get him to do a compression check, both dry and wet(chuck a squirt of oil down the bores).
Why?If compressions are uneven,if there is no improvement with the wet test, the valves are leaking. The wet test will improve figures over the dry if the valves are not leaking,as the oil seals the piston rings on a temporary basis.Hopefully you`ll get a nice set of even figures in the 180`s dry, healthy engine.
Please PM me if you have anything to ask,as this 3 way posting is becoming confusing.

Don`t know what`s happened to Mark,he must be servicing Miss Fire
