Flashing LED

Car  182
Hi Guys,

My clio has the standard alarm and i purchased a clifford blye flashing led for it. works fine. however ive come to purchase a 12v flashing ELD screen for it and connected the same way i did with my led and didnt work.. disconnected led and still didnt work.. any ideas?

Same really.

LED's are polarised though, so it may be incorrectly connected up.

what do u mean polarised someone else said that but didnt understand.. where would i need to connect my ELD screen to then exactly. if it connects straight to batt it works, but obviously i want it to flash automatically when i arm my alarm.

What's an ELD screen?

Polarised, as in they are polarity sensitive. If the +ve lead and -ve leads are connected the wrong way round then it wont work. Try swapping them round?

Do you mean the LED screen in your speedo ? which alarm light do you mean, the one on your speedo or the one by your gearstick ?

no i brought an ELD flashing sticker thing flashes clifford as i said its a 12v , cant seem to get it to flash not sure where to connect it to exactly. my flashing led 2v works fine tho.

So a 2V LED works but a 12V screen doesnt...

Basically there isnt enough voltage in the system to run that clifford thing at the point you are trying to place it

a very easy solution would be to buy a 3v flashing LED, attached a simple dual AA battery pack to it. hide the batteries in the gear stick surround and put the led in place.

yes its on all the time but who cares? also the batteries will last a good 6 months

I fitted one of these in an MG ZR, used the perm' live from the stereo to power it (just earthed it behind the dash). Its on all the time but you only see it flashing in the dark.
