Flip A 1*2

  fiesta zetec s mk5 / 182
How Easy is it to actually flip a car? i drive a standard 182 and am lookin at the ring next year but am just worried in case i flip her? dunno why just am lol! the zetec S im taking there am not worried about apart from the db level. but was just wondering has anybody actually flipped there clio and ho hard was it? how can i prevent it?

lol if your worried that you think you will "flip" (roll) your clio at the ring, I wouldn't bother going if i were you. if you seriously consider that, then make sure you put a cage in it. Db level is 105 at the ring and they will test you if its stupidly loud, But to be honest I doubt apart from a subwoofer, a Zetec S has enough HP to be loud enough to break 105. Dont rev it like a tit in the que to get on or in the car park and you'll be ok. There only a few places where there is enough grass, or gravel to roll your car at the ring, Your more likely to roll it after hitting another car or the barrier etc etc.

You can prevent it by driving within your limits, and not driving like a tit. But if its going to happen its going to happen, you amount of skill or luck will save you. Theres plenty of high kerbs at the ring, sideways into anyone of those could roll the car, same if it digs in on the grass/gravel/into barrier etc etc etc.

Drive your car likes its on a normal road, and dont take risks, and you'll be fine. Oh and go very very steady until you know your way around.

i flipped my 1st one, icey conditions back end started to go so i countered it but then it suddenly got grip back and flicked the end out into a spin then a bit of lateral and vertical G!

if it hadnt suddenly gripped then it would of be fine plenty of grip and conposure

Sorry but you drive a VW and a BMW so ive decided not to listen to a damn thing you said lol :rasp:

pmsl and I've done over 50 laps of the ring, so ignore me carry on, and drive as fast as you can, thats my advice, infact the track is pretty much flat all the way round. Good luck

Have you been on a UK track, before your considering the ring?

That, Tom, is an excellent suggestion.

Go somewhere local and practice driving on a race track first. Go to a couple of track days. Then go to the 'Ring.

So...ask for advice and then ignore it? You can flip any car if you crash it. If you don't want to listen to sensible advice in your own thread then you will crash it, and probably roll it. Then you'll have answered your own question ;)

Id check your insured to be on the ring, im sure you need insurance as its a public road, but most companies like elephant, admiral, bell etc it persifically mentiones the ring as being somewhere your not insured :dapprove:

  E90
No one covers the ring these days, unless you fork out a small fortune for cover especially, hence the reason Jon and myself run complete sheds there, so you dont lose everything if you prang it. Its also worth noting for Fangio here that should you have an accident, you will have to pay there and then, for armco, closure, recovery, marshall time, and in his case one of these

Should another car be involved and you be at fault, lets say you rear end a lamborghini gallardo that is in the right hand lane (its still a two lane road) Then if the police say your at fault, you'll be made to pay that also, outside your insurance.
"sort it out with my insurance" "i'll send you a cheque" Do you do direct debit and 3 years 0% finance" dont wash with the guys in the office, You pay or bite a pillow on D wing, so make sure your credit card has enough limit to cover it.

One of the reason i havent been yet, you crash on a UK circuit they drag you car out the barrier backwards and dump it in the pits.. you lost your car and thats your punishment...

Loosing my car and being hit with a big bill is something i cant afford :(

  fiesta zetec s mk5 / 182
still back to the topic anybody know ewt about the psysics of the car when or just before it rolls?

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
The chances of you rolling the thing are pretty remote. Hitting armco hard should be more of a concern.

As for the physics, well it surely doesn't take that much brainpower to realise that lots of sideways momentum will contribute...i.e sliding.
Keep it going forwards is my bit of advice.

  E90
pmsl at Physics, I did physics at uni and no amount of knowledge on newtons laws will stop it going, you going to put an inclinometer and G meter in the car and watch that to stop yourself rolling lol

  fiesta zetec s mk5 / 182
ffs does nobody understand english! was wondering how much force was put on certain parts of the car before a flip i.e suspension components, tyres and chassis that stuff not sir fuckin isaac newton of holland just havin a rant because he doesnt understand a question!

  E90
IT DEPENDS ON THE SITUATION, SURFACE, SPEED, TYRES, WEATHER, ETC ETC ETC You clownshoe, there are no exact figures, go outside and give your head a shake, that rattle you hear will be the walnut sized brain hitting the sides lmao.

i used to think cliosport was a place where some1 could come for advice and hints on clio's and such not somewhere full of useless, unhelpfull moronic chaps like yourself!

Cliosport WTF happened!

Your first reply to the sensible advice i gave was what happened, listen to your own advice is my advice to you, If your able to compute such information.

you have been a member for 3months lol, not a lot has happened to cs in that shorter time

read the thread and listen to weeman, he's giving you all the info you need, there are no exact physics to rolling a car as there are too may variables and factors which contribute to it
