Contrary to what has been posted on here a few times recently, oil pressure is higher when it's cold. That doesn't mean the oil is lubricating as properly as it will when hot, but the issue with cold starting isn't oil pressure.
I don't batter my car when cold, but I don't drive it like it's going to break if I press the pedal. Oil temp gauge FTW. My water temp is at halfway, long before the oil temp is up.
