Fly removal!!

  CX-7,westfield,ix20
What does everyone use for removing those pesky welded on flies from the front of their car?

I can get my car looking nice and shiny with my cleaing 'routine' as it is but it's always let down by the front as I can never seem to get rid of the flies!!

Any advice appreciated :)

Cheers,

David

hi,
i use TFR which is Traffic Film Remover which i then dilute 30:1 and spray onto the car...if ur looking for an off the shelf product...meguiars gold class bug and tar remover does a very good job of tidying up your front end!

we use like a house hold kitchen or bathroom cleaner on the racecars spray on leave for a bit then will come right off mr muscle is good.

A good wash should get them off after leaving to soak for a few mins.

If that doesn't work use a clay bar.

Once the car is cleaned make sure to give it a good waxing with some decent wax, then next time the bugs will come straight off with ease.

Cheers people,

Tried just washing them off with my regular car shampoo (autoglym) but with no luck.

The recent ones come off but there were flies on it when I bought it (a couple of months ago) that are welded on.

Cheers for the advice/tips :)

If you haven't got a clay bar or it doesn't work you could try...

Leaving a wet cloth (suitable one, mircofibre or the like) over them for a good 30 mins or so should defo shift them then.

Don't use anything too abrasive without trying these methods first imo.

As above - Lay a wet towel on them for a few mins to soften them and then wash, should come straight off.

Cheers lads,

Will be giving it a bash at the weekend (hangover + weather permitting) so hopefully get the front end matching the rest of the car!

If they don't come off with soap and water alone- Autoglym Super Resin will finish them off !

he means butter on the headlights due to the oils etc it means there is less chance of them sticking to the lights and easier to clean off, if using on your paintwork i would use " i cant belive its not butter" or "flora" prob best unsaturated fats,
(headlight thing is true)

Won't that strip wax etc ?

I find that if your car if waxed and sealed up good they just come off with a wash mitt with your desired car shampoo in warm water and a rinse with hose etc :)

Well they do on my car :)

As i have my front bumper, wing mirrors and bonnet well protected with Collinittes.

Yeah mate it sucks. Just don't have the time to sort mine at the moment either, all its got recently is a wash and wipe down, really needs a PC SRP and sealing and wax session, the wheels and arches removing...just can't be bothered right now as its just so filthy out.

I did mine in September and it was looking absolutely MINT after a 3/4 day session....but at uni all I could do was wash it and QD (or was prepared too lol, was kind of busy!) and got a few minor marks where some guy MOTd my car and must have wiped his overalls on the front quarter panels so want to SRP the whole thing, seal and apply a few layers of wax. That shouldn't take more than 4 hours one day and then another layer of wax each time I wash ... but its the wheels and arches I really want to do. Might just wait til Spring now though.

Plus I have had enough of my sister's mates ridiculing me for cleaning my car, as sod's law they seem to come round every time I am doing it - must look pretty ghey lol!

Er I'm not even sure I made one?! As photos aren't on my Photobucket account - they are on my laptop though so if I dig that out I can get them up.

I thought I had made one though? I'll do a search!

Use Autoglym Bug and tar remover, spray on, leave for 30 secs and just wash off like normal. Its seriously that easy!! never had a problem with that product!! Get it dude!:D

Again the above works well, but while removing the bugs chances are it will be stripping off your wax or sealant. Ideally you don't want to have to use anything other than shampoo and water unless you want to re-protect.
