Foam

Quick question:

How many canisters of tyre foam stuff should come with a 182? Mine had one but the bag thing it came in seems like it should hold two?

Read your manual. It will tell you how many you need to re-inflate a tyre. Mine says I have to use 2.

Er cos it broke down before it had been delivered and now that it finally has been delivered the front of the car is cracked and hanging off, there is a big splodge of grey paint on the drivers door, the dashboard insert is scratched, one of the cans of tyre foam is missing and its slower than my old 2.2 Vectra SRI 150!!!!

When its all fixed and run-in I might change my profile!

I cant find anywhere in my documents where it says I should have two cans of foam. Need to have some backup when I ring Renault tomorrow (they should have rung me up by half 3 today but didnt), where exactly can I find it in writing?

Why did you take delivery of it with all these faults ?

I rememer reading a thread about you not getting it whilst they sorted it out which in a way is fair enough if they are sorting the car for you before delivery, but its sounds like they did nothing of the sort...rejection springs to mind.

Thats an awfull list of faults on a new car.

It was absolutely pi**ing down and me and the delivery bloke got soaked as it was. The car had been driven over a hundred miles to me in filthy conditions. The only thing I spotted was the scratched interior strip which I noted down on the form I signed.

I saw I had only one can of foam but thought that was normal.

Then I washed the car and found the paint on the door that had been hiding under a load of muck.

The hose blew all the muck, grass and bits of twigs/leaves and stuff off the splitter and when I looked closely I realised what I thought was just bit of muck was actually two big cracks. Then I noticed it wasnt on properly, the damage is consistent with it not being fitted properly or it hitting a trailer or transporter as it was reversed off the spoiler is kind of pushed forward.

Not sure I would want to reject it as I waited 4 months and apart from it being slow (cos its new maybe) I aint got the other troubles people have had likes knocks and stuff whilst driving.

I saw the headlights were steamed up but I am going out now for an hour with the lights on. If that dont clear them it will be another flaw added to the list when I tear into Renault tomorrow.

Oh yeah even the tax disk holder is broke but I cant peel the damn thing off.

No it was from a broker but actually came from Inchcape Renault in Southampton. To be honest I wouldnt recommend getting a car from them, they should be ashamed of themselves handing over a car in that condition. If I get the foam and splitter sorted I think I would just put up with the paint and the scratched dash insert. Fed up really, takes the shine off what would have been a good car.

Have just been driving for 3 hours. Its done 225 miles. Loosening up a bit, far more responsive at low revs than I was expecting. Took it up to 6.5k on a couple of occassions, didnt blow my socks off but it was a bit quicker than my old Vectra I have to admit. I was driving "normally" and its doing 39mpg which I thought was good. Still have over half a tank of fuel left :(, gotta burn off that 95 RON stuff they put it in.

One really big downside, its a w*nker magnet, nothing but chavs tailgating and pulling along side wanting to race.

Still a bit of condensation down in the inside corners of both headlights? Have other people had that? Hoping a bit of sun will clear it completely.

I also only got one foam can with my 182. However, in the manual it does state that two are required. Didnt go back to complain, just bought another one for a small price.

I have not found this to be the case with mine, in the 7 months I have owned it this might have happened once, maybe, just cant remember it happening???

All the attention I get is people starring and giving me the thumbs up, and thats with my kevved up spa stickers still on too!

So cant understand why you are getting the wrong type of attention, its not that sort of car?

I ahve never seen any where near 39mpg out of mine, even if I drive it like a nun, I dont think these electronic MPG fitures are very acurate myself, there is so much variance between people.

I agree about the dealer not being very good by handing over the car in that condition, tbh honest I would have either insisted that it was delivered by trailer like mine was or gone to pick up the car myslef. I dont like the idea of someone driving it to me (unless I have got the wrong end of the stick, thats what it sounded like in your post)

Well some people on here say that the car should be ranted from new to get optimum power. I havent got the heart to do it so I suppose its good someone else *might* have done that for me!!!

Cant say I am thrilled about getting the car with 120 miles on the clock though. When he pulled up in it I thought well at least they didnt shaft the front spoiler on a trailer, but as the spoiler was broken anyway.....!!!!

Spoke to the broker and they sounded shocked at the condition it was in and asked me to put it all in writing to them so they could go to the dealer with it. I listed all the faults, said I was rejecting the car and that I want them to get it off my property, give me a courtesy car and get it fixed. I also reminded them that if the door needs to be resprayed I will reject the car if I find the smallest amount of overspray, or any rough patches or if the colour match aint good. I basically said that it had better look like £15k worth of brand new car.
