I had the same problem but it turned out to be the fuel pump. I think where mine ran out of fuel, it cut out so violently because I was in the middle of changing gear.
Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn on the ignition?
its got just under quater tank, i havent had a chance to look into it, just came home from a funeral and i had to ditch the car in a lay by, going to get it in a min
dash is normal as if i was to start the car normaly, ive got a decat and it pops and bangs so theres always been some unburnt fuel im completly stumped tbh!
distribution block might have gone? (or have you checked sparks??)
how do you know the cambelt is intact??
could have lost a tensioner and caused the engine to fall out of line,
but that would make it crank slightly faster
tension seemed fine on the belt? the cams looked to be turning normal speed, we couldnt get a spark so i think it could be the dizzy but i replaced that about a month ago lol
ok, if the belt hasn't had something happen, then a backfire is normally a very misplaced spark. Check everything is ok with the dizzy, maybe the rotor arm has broken or the cap has come loose and damaged a contact?
cap looks alright to me, i havnt taken it off to see the rotor arm atal, i cant remember what the things called that sends the power over to the dizzy via a lead, lol metal block ftl, could that have something to do with it?
and it wouldnt start like mine?? im a n00b when it comes to engines lol where abouts is the sensor? i replaced a clutch on the car yesterday and bat and airbox was out, so people have been fidling about in that region
Nope, wouldn't start as you say. Turned over and turned over until we cleaned the crank sensor. It's bolted to the top of the gearbox, right by where it meets the engine. Couple of 10mm bolts iirc.
